Job Summary and QualificationsThe Senior Director, Purchased Services leads the strategy, management, and execution of sourcing initiatives across all clinical and non-clinical service categories and technologies. This role oversees the development of a comprehensive purchased services program, including expense management, supplier negotiations, analytics, contract execution, and value realization. Key responsibilities include identifying purchased services opportunities, maintaining a multi-year purchased services opportunity pipeline, implement contract conversions, working with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to operationalize savings strategies, and monitoring post-implementation compliance to achieve annual purchased services savings goals
What you will do in the role:General Leadership
- Provides leadership support in the area of purchased services expense management
- Manage the Purchased Services contract portfolio to include but not limited to clinical and non-clinical services, technology, and other non-labor expense categories
- Effectively manage projects from beginning to end, translate objectives, execute outcomes, and present project deliverables to local and system managers, directors, and executives
- Design and manage the sourcing and contract management framework for all categories in the Purchased Services portfolio including new requests and renewals
- Develop and deploy an industry-leading Purchased Services playbook focused on Analytics, Strategy and requirements development, supplier negotiations, performance-based contract negotiation and value realization through structured business reviews
- Manage strategic supplier engagement and expand optimization efforts through development of high-performance contracts through integration of key performance indicators (KPIs) and structure business review process
- Collaborate with key stakeholders including Clinical / Non-Clinical leaders, physicians, executives, end-users, and others to define category specifications and acceptable service levels; work closely with leaders and key stakeholders to project category purchases and develop strategies to maintain and maximize spend management opportunities and timelines
- Achieve stakeholder support and collaboration through participation in cross-functional teams, engagement in conversations that expose core business and service objectives and sharing best practices for comprehensive success
- Assess and provide insights into purchased services expenses to guide and support HCA's sourcing workplan
- Manage purchased services project plan working with all key stakeholders to drive and implement savings for all identified purchased services categories
- Analyze purchased services data, make recommendations, and execute a course of action for implementing purchased services contracts
- Lead calls with relevant stakeholders to review and update active sourcing projects, etc.
- Track service contract execution, implementation, savings and supplier service levels on an on-going basis to ensure high quality service delivery and savings achieved
Category Management
- Manage assigned contracting projects, including the completion and timely execution of contracted services that deliver high quality services and cost savings, including but not limited to:
- Prepare and distribute Request for Proposals (RFPs)
- Research and analyze vendors to be included in RFPs
- Evaluate proposals by developing your own analysis or oversee development of financial analysis and present contract recommendations
- Craft contract language working with Corporate Legal to finalize agreements
- Interacts and develops relationships with key stakeholders to better understand needs and challenges which may include clinicians, supply chain, and other hospital leadership
- Continuously defines and improves client solutions as it relates to the purchased services program
Financial
- Establishes and meets expense savings goals
- Organizes saving enhancement strategies for purchased services
- Develops standardized documents, processes, and calculations for use by the purchased services team to quantify purchased services savings solutions
Project Management
- Directs multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organization skills, including the ability to plan, implement, and execute
- The ability to focus and execute exceptional time management
- Demonstrates the ability to develop a project plan for major and complex projects
- Develops milestones for projects to determine outcomes are achieved that includes facilitating teams that lead to building consensus and contract implementation
- Track and reports all activities and milestones

- Demonstrates healthcare purchased services knowledge
- Provides effective communication which includes verbal, writing, and presentation skills to a variety of stakeholders from executives to staff

What qualifications you will need:- Bachelor's Degree - Required
- Graduate Degree - Preferred
- 7+ years of experience in a healthcare related role with experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Previous experience in supply chain, value analysis, purchased services and/or sourcing that includes purchased services knowledge and experience required
- Demonstrated successful experience with project management and coordination and measurement of project deliverables
- Advanced computer skills with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Software skills with business intelligence and project management tools
- Occasional Travel: The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis.
