Full Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Public Outreach Specialist to join our team at K&A Power Group in Rochester, New York. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. You'll be part of a dynamic, people-focused team where your expertise, ideas, and contributions will be valued and celebrated.

Role Expectations:
  • Develop and implement common strategies, processes and procedures of outreach and communications processes for stakeholders including customers and abutters.
  • Proactively work with residential and commercial customers, advising of upcoming work, applying strategic tactics to ease the burden of construction.
  • Work with project teams regarding writing and editing standardized project-related outreach materials.
  • Coordinate and host public meetings and open houses.
  • Provide notification of upcoming projects to project neighbors and abutters; negotiate solutions to problems such as lost parking spots, loss of business, noise complaints, etc.
  • Develop and maintain tracking mechanisms for Outreach such as customer and stakeholder lists, customer and stakeholder management plans, and Outreach logs.
  • Respond to urgent public relations issues on projects, bringing in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs when necessary.
  • Implement and maintain phone hotlines for critical projects and outreach inquiries.
  • Work collaboratively with consultants, contractors, municipal leaders, customers, and others in the communities served by the utility.
  • Perform other necessary duties as assigned by the Public Outreach Manager-Projects.

What we're looking for:
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, environmental sciences, journalism, marketing, or related degree.
  • Have at least three (3) years of practical experience in journalism, communications, marketing, environmental permitting, construction communications, or related experience.
  • Strong communications skills, particularly writing and public speaking
  • A firm grasp of Microsoft Office communications programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Hold a valid U.S. state driver's license and in good standing
  • Willing to travel within the operating company's service area in your state. May require occasional travel to other states.

Pay Range $120,000.00-$145,000.00/year
