The Washington County Public Health Division within Health and Human Services Department is looking for a Public Health Nursing Supervisor to join Maternal Child & Family (MCF) Branch.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of staff involved in public health nursing activities.
  • Recommends and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives; establishes schedules and methods for the delivery of nursing services; and implements policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates operations and activities of assigned responsibilities; recommends improvements and modifications; and prepares various reports, operations and activities.
  • Provides supervision, coordination, and direction to assigned public health nursing programs; coordinates and supervises the scheduling of services; provides for staff coverage and clinical materials; responsible for labor contract administration and processing grievances.


Work Schedule: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule including remote work.

Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of public health nursing.
  • Knowledge of supervision, training, and performance evaluation, including knowledge of Reflective Supervision principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with the NEAR (neurobiology, epigenetics, ACEs, and resilience) science of trauma-informed approaches/care and related key components of cultural competency.
  • Experience using and caring for nursing and medical equipment.
  • Experience of using Electronic Medical Record systems (Ex. EPIC OCHIN)
  • Ability to supervise and implement a comprehensive public health nursing program, including chart review for quality assurance and program standard alignment.
  • Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Spanish/English bilingual skills preferred but not required.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing, and from a school approved for community health nursing preferred; AND two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in community health nursing, nursing supervision, or program coordination.


Additional Requirements:
  • Possession of a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Oregon at the time of appointment.
  • Passing a background check post offer is required.
