Loudoun County Department of Family Services seeks a dedicated and experienced professional for a Public Benefits Case Reviewer. The successful candidate will join the Public Benefits team within the Department of Family Services which envisions better health, safety, and well being for all. We support individuals and families in the community to live their best lives while advocating for those most vulnerable and respecting their right to self-determination.
Job Summary

This position performs advanced case review work for SNAP, TANF, and all Medical Assistance programs. Responsibilities include evaluating cases for compliance with timeliness and accuracy requirements, identifying error trends and root causes, developing training recommendations, and reporting findings to leadership. The role also ensures corrective actions are completed within established timeframes.

In addition, this position supports SNAP Management Evaluation Reviews as well as state and regional reviews and audits. The employee may provide intermittent supervisory coverage and assist with both initial and ongoing eligibility determinations when needed.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of policies and procedures for complex federal, state, and local SNAP, TANF, and Medicaid programs.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis to evaluate and improve work quality.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policy accurately in eligibility determinations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, partners, and the public.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field four (4) years of experience in public benefits/public assistance programs at the level of Public Benefits Program Specialist II or above and or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Pass pre-employment background to include criminal, credit, Child Protective Services (CPS), and DMV. Valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).

At times, the Department of Family Services staff must respond to community and or emergency needs caused by inclement weather, natural or human-made disasters, etc. Therefore, in these very rare instances, all DFS staff must be available to work beyond the normal workday to include nights, weekends, and holidays, as required to perform functions of the position and/or situation. In addition, you may be required to work at an alternative worksite(s) within the County to perform duties that support the operational needs of the department.
