If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Public Affairs Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of New Jersey, located in Newark, New Jersey, focusing in the areas of communications, media, and video production.Typical work assignments will include:

• Developing and maintaining collaborative communications with local law enforcement agencies, such as the Police Department, as well as federal law enforcement agencies
• Working with the USAO community to develop and implement engagement communication strategies provide advice and recommendations to the U.S. Attorney and the Front Office.
• Representing the district at numerous community meetings and events, including those that occur during the evenings;
• Consulting with law enforcement, community, and community's public safety, quality of life needs, and address those needs through interactions with the district's litigation sections and other government agencies.
• Providing responses to numerous community concerns both in-person and in writing.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

• You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
• Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
• You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
• If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
• You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

GS-14:To be eligible at the GS-14 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors), some or all the duties listed below:

- Coordinating or implementing public affairs strategies for a government organization or implementing coverage strategies for a major news organization;

- Writing or editing communication materials (news releases, fact sheets, brochures, etc.) related to crime, the judicial system, legislation, financial markets or technology;

- Collaborating closely with subject-matter experts under tight deadlines to distill and translate complex subjects into clear, understandable material for a general audience;

- Interacting with the public and news media on behalf of an organization through interviews, conference appearances or public speaking;

- Demonstrating leadership in creating a digital strategy for a government, corporate or news organization, inclusive of public-facing websites, digital newsletters, audio productions such as podcasts and social-media outreach;

- Producing accessible instructional or education content for the public on a complex legal, financial or policy topic while also defining objectives, identifying target audiences and adapting material based on effectiveness;

- Utilizing digital analytical tools and systems such as Google or Adobe analytics to identify audience engagement and reach, implement audience growth initiatives and increase visibility.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
