Psychotherapist Telehealth

The Tele Psychotherapist is a fully remote clinical role providing telehealth services to pediatric patients and families physically located in New Jersey. This position is designed for psychotherapists who hold an active and unrestricted New Jersey license and are authorized to practice teletherapy.

The Tele psychotherapist will provide therapy through a HIPAA compliant teletherapy platform in standard 45 to 60 minute sessions,

The Tele psychotherapist will join a dynamic multidisciplinary outpatient behavioral health team and will provide evidence based diagnostic evaluation, and psychotherapeutic intervention for children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide range of developmental, behavioral, emotional, medical, and neurodevelopmental presentations,

The Tele psychotherapist role focuses on identifying and addressing emotional, behavioral, developmental, and psychological factors that impact functioning, development, and overall well being,

Services are designed to improve emotional regulation, adaptive coping, behavioral functioning, and engagement in daily activities,

The Tele psychotherapist collaborates with medical, rehabilitation, and community providers to support the patient to reach their full potential,

Tele psychotherapists may come from different educational and licensed backgrounds which include Licensed Certified Social Worker LCSW Licensed Professional Counselor LPC , and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist LMFT

The Tele psychotherapist will provide services primarily through secure telehealth platforms while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary medical, behavioral health, and rehabilitation providers across the Childrens Specialized Hospital network,

A typical day may look like:
  • Provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluations
  • Interprets assessment data and disseminates findings accurately and sensitively, according to department policy
  • Develops and guides individual evidence based treatment plans
  • Provides psychotherapy as indicated to address the issues impacting the patients functioning
  • Monitors progress and adjusts treatment plans as needed
  • Provides support for chronic illness, injury, or disability, as applicable, in collaboration with interdisciplinary team physician and rehabilitation therapists
  • Provide support for parents and caregivers of children newly diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder,
  • Assist in interdisciplinary autism diagnostic evaluations by facilitating Autism Diagnostic Interviews as needed,
  • Collaborate with families, schools, and others as needed to fulfill treatment goals
  • Identifies and responds to safety concerns
  • Maintains compliance with documentation, ethical, legal standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintains productivity standards consistent with departmental expectations
  • Provide a minimum number of weekly appointment hours during designated high demand scheduling hours 3 to 8 PM ET weekdays and or weekends in accordance with time zone specific scheduling requirements,
  • Provides clinical supervision or training to staff, fellows, interns and externs as applicable
  • Attends program development and case conferences as indicated for patients treated or evaluated
  • Provides inservices to staff and community agencies as requested by Supervisor
  • Provides effective team consultation as needed


To be considered for this opportunity, you must have:
  • Masters Degree, with at least 1 year experience preferred
  • Full active and unrestricted New Jersey licensure to practice psychotherapy,
  • LCSW Masters or Doctorate in Social Work MSW, DSW
  • LPC Masters degree or Doctorate in counseling or a related field
  • American Heart Association BLS Provider Certification preferred
  • Position is fully remote.
  • Candidate must maintain a private, professional, HIPAA compliant workspace with reliable internet connectivity suitable for telehealth service delivery.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and clinical responsibilities required.
