Position SummaryAs the Psychiatrist Supervisor, you would be responsible for:
- Supervising medical staff, residents, and medical students rotating through the Institute's civil units.
- Providing direct service activities to patients.
- Performing psychiatric exams.
- Prescribing medications and treatments.
- Consulting with patients and families.
- Participating in and/or conducting in service meetings, staffing, and case conferences.
- Providing consultation to community agencies.
- Participating in training of resident, medical students, and unit staff.
- Working with each of the specialized civil unit's clinical treatment teams to oversee the clinical treatment services in conjunction with the unit managers.
Salary InformationThe starting pay is up to $194.11* per hour (approximately $403,700 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits.
- *Starting pay includes maximum add-ons:
- $11.00 to $23.00 per hour for Board Certification
- $8.00 per hour for the supervisory nature of this position.
- A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. T he pay schedule and range for this position is 50/52.
Job DetailsAll applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by the facility or medical personnel directed by the facility prior to their start date.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.
QualificationsMinimally qualified applicants will have both of the following:
- License or eligible to be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Wisconsin. Eligible means licensed to practice medicine in another state and able to obtain a WI license. Must obtain license prior to the appointment.
- Board Certified in Psychiatry as defined by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. (ABPN) and Board Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as defined by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP).
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience working with electronic health records program, such as Cerner.
- Experience leading a treatment team and supervising the work of Social Workers, Nurses, Recreational/Occupational Therapists, or Psychologists.
- Experience working with patients committed under Chapter 51 (civil commitments).
- Experience supervising medical students and residents.
