Position Overview:
The Psychiatrist works to diagnose and treat patients with behavioral health and substance use disorders, to determine the nature and extent of disorders, and to formulate treatment programs utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications. The psychiatrist provides clinical consultation to social workers and non-medical staff, as well as functions as the signature of record for treatment planning within the behavioral health clinic. Person-centered, culturally competent care is provided by the Psychiatrist with a focus on outcomes.

Essential Functions:
  • Assess, diagnose and treat patients in an Article 31/32 outpatient setting while maintaining an appropriate and timely electronic health record for each patient seen in accordance with the clinic policies and procedures, including concurrent documentation of session notes
  • Prescribe medications, including injectables, through e-prescribing software while managing and monitoring dose changes and side effects in order to ensure the safety and tolerability of prescribed medications
  • Complete, review and sign treatment plans and make recommendations for psychotherapy services to be provided by other members of a multidisciplinary team in a timely manor
  • Maintain an appropriate and timely electronic health record for each patient seen in accordance with clinic policies and procedures, including concurrent documentation of session notes and assessments
  • Supervise PMHNPs and train clinical team, as well as participate in case conferences
  • Assist in development of organizational, departmental, and clinic policies, procedures and objectives, as requested and participate in organizational development activities including departmental meetings, clinic meetings, quality and performance initiatives, and functions as requested
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A medical degree with a licensed registered in New York State
  • Certification by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, or is eligible to be certified
  • DEA license for prescribing controlled substances
  • New York State OPRA (Ordering/Prescribing/Referring/Attending) status and a Health Commerce account
  • Experience with children/adolescents
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Waiver to prescribe Buprenorphine
  • Child and adolescent specialty
  • Additional certification in Addiction Psychiatry/Medicine
  • Language other than English: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali, Hindi, Korean, etc.
