Full Job Description
AMI Expeditionary Healthcare is seeking experienced Psychiatrists to support the Hampton VA Healthcare System in Hampton, Virginia. This is an opportunity to provide high-quality, compassionate psychiatric care to our nation's Veterans while working alongside a collaborative, interdisciplinary mental health team.

Psychiatrists will provide comprehensive services across inpatient, outpatient, residential, clinic, and emergency settings, supporting Veterans with a wide range of psychiatric and behavioral health needs.

Schedule
  • Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Availability for • Call Back• and • Consultation via telephone with attending physicians or nurses• for weekend and holiday evenings required.

What You'll Do
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management for Veterans across inpatient, outpatient, residential, and emergency care settings.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and provide medication management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, and care for patients with severe and complex mental illness.
  • Manage inpatient psychiatric admissions, treatment, discharge and transfer planning, and provide post-discharge follow-up and consultation services.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, Advanced Practice Providers, and other members of the VA interdisciplinary team to coordinate safe, effective, patient-centered care.
  • Provide psychiatric consultations regarding medication management, psychiatric emergencies, restraints and seclusion, patient transfers, and other clinical concerns.
  • Complete histories and physicals, review and interpret laboratory results, imaging, medical histories, and other clinical information necessary to guide treatment.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation and enter prescriptions, laboratory orders, diagnostic imaging requests, and other treatment orders in the VA electronic health record.
  • Provide clinical oversight and direction to residents, interns, medical students, and Advanced Practice Providers, as applicable, and participate in peer review activities.
  • Participate in scheduled weekend and Federal Holiday inpatient coverage and designated after-hours telephone consultation/callback coverage.


What We're Looking For
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Active and current BLS certification.
  • Active and current DEA certificate.
  • Active and current National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team and manage multiple clinical priorities.
  • Ability to successfully complete the AMI credentialing process.
