JOB SUMMARYThe Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is directly responsible for diagnosing or evaluating behavioral, emotional and cognitive disorders through observation, interview and psychological tests. Applies theory relating to behavior and mental processes to formulate and administer treatment that includes counseling and therapy. Helps patients work toward the maintenance and enhancement of physical, intellectual, emotional, social and interpersonal functioning. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is also responsible for appropriate documentation in the patient chart. Participates in a team-based approach to care in the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). Participates in activities related to Quality Improvement.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES- Manages behavioral health care including diagnosis, treatment, and follow up. Prescribes, directs, and administers psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
- Collaborates with providers, social workers, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.
- Maintains appropriate documentation on patient clinical records
- Participates in GLBHC's Quality Assurance activities as assigned
- Provides behavioral health staff oversight. Evaluates effectiveness of counseling or treatment plans and the accuracy and completeness of diagnoses and modifies diagnoses and treatment plans as necessary.
MARGINAL JOB DUTIES- Assists in marketing and public relations, including recruitment of providers as needed.
- Performs other functions relating to GLBHC's behavioral health program as may be required.
- Performs other duties as assigned by President/CEO and Medical Director.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS- Education: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner must have Master of Nursing degree and a current valid license and produce evidence of such.
- Licensure: Must be licensed by the State of Michigan and be Board. Possesses valid DEA license.
- Experience: 1-2 years in underserved area preferred.
- Skills: Diagnostic, therapeutic, interpersonal, organizational.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
- Physical Effort: Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and or twist while holding up to 25 lbs. frequently.
- Hours: Full-time or Part-time, Monday through Friday. Flexible and
- Travel: Some travel between sites required. Travel may be required in order to attend pertinent conferences; with travel, lodging, and living costs reimbursed at the existing rate. Reimbursement for expenses will occur in accordance with policy.
