Job Description
Lead Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our leadership team. This role combines direct clinical excellence with operational and provider leadership responsibilities. The Lead PMHNP will work collaboratively with the Medical Director and a designated leadership counterpart to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care across multiple practice settings.

This position is ideal for a motivated psychiatric provider who is passionate about mentorship, clinical quality improvement, provider development, and advancing organizational excellence in behavioral healthcare. The role includes periodic travel to support onsite provider training and clinical initiatives.

Clinical Leadership & Oversight

  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and Lead PMHNP counterpart to provide clinical oversight and support to psychiatric providers across the organization.
  • Promote adherence to organizational policies, clinical protocols, evidence-based practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and other behavioral health providers.
  • Participate in case consultations and provide guidance on complex clinical presentations as needed.
  • Support quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and provider effectiveness.

Provider Recruitment & Evaluation

  • Participate in the interviewing, selection, and onboarding process for psychiatric providers.
  • Conduct provider evaluations and performance reviews, offering constructive feedback and development plans.
  • Assist in assessing provider competencies and identifying opportunities for professional growth and continuing education.
  • Contribute to provider retention initiatives by fostering a collaborative and supportive professional environment.

Performance Management & KPI Monitoring

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to clinical quality, productivity, documentation compliance, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with leadership to develop strategies for achieving departmental and organizational goals.
  • Identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and implement corrective action plans when necessary.


Requirements
  • Master's degree from a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current and unrestricted PMHNP license in applicable state - NYS.
  • National certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
  • DEA registration and prescriptive authority in applicable state - NYS.
  • Prior leadership, supervisory, mentoring, or provider management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working within outpatient, long-term care, skilled nursing, or integrated behavioral health settings is highly desirable.

  • Physical and Travel Requirements:

    • Ability to travel to various clinical locations as needed.
    • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and working on a computer.
    • Ability to participate in onsite meetings, trainings, and provider evaluations.
