Description

We are currently seeking a Psychiatric APRN for our Colchester and Norwich health centers to provide quality client centered psychiatric care services for patients including comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, routine follow ups and emergency interventions. They will also develop and implement patient psychiatric treatment plans, records, and progress notes per agency policies and procedures and approved protocols developed within the guidelines of the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act.

UCFS Hours of Operation: Open 8:00am - 7:00pm; Hours Vary By Day & Location

(We are also open on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month)

Expected Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provides client centered psychiatric health care for patients including but not limited to:
  • Conducting psychiatric evaluations including ordering /performing /interpreting screening and diagnostic procedures and tests
  • Conducting routine follow-up visits for monitoring prescribed medication
  • Conducting emergency consultation, evaluation or follow up visits as needed
  • Providing treatment according to accepted agency standards, protocols and policies
  • Assisting in the management of referred and/or complex problems
  • Documenting assessment findings, treatment recommendations and plan for continuing care in the clinical record
  • Maintaining productivity standards
  • Collaborates with physician, clinicians, other agency providers, clinical support staff, administrative staff and community resources in meeting patient and family needs
  • Provides health promotion, education and counseling for patient/families related to medication, diagnosis, health issues and coping strategies
  • Maintains accurate, legible medical records and returns all assigned charts or patient data (lab reports, consultations, etc.) to medical records in a timely fashion
  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of principles of fire, safety, infection control, and OHSA guidelines
  • Mentors Psychiatric APRN Interns as needed
  • Participates in provider chart peer reviews

Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut
  • 2 years of experience working with, evaluating, and prescribing clients with mental and behavioral health diagnoses (Ambulatory care experience preferred)
  • Master's of Science Nursing or equivalency

Minimum Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • CT APRN License
  • Certification in Psychiatric Nursing

Minimum Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to use MS Office Suite
  • Experience with EHR (EPIC experience preferred)
