Job Summary

Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider to join our Behavioral Health team in the Emergency Department. This full-time, hospital-employed overnight position plays a critical role in the assessment, stabilization, and triage of patients presenting with psychiatric emergencies. This role is fast-paced, autonomous, and deeply impactful, offering the opportunity to serve a high-need population during critical moments of care. Core Job Responsibilities

  • Based in the Emergency Department providing frontline psychiatric evaluations
  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric assessments, risk evaluations, and crisis intervention
  • Determine appropriate level of care
  • Collaborate with ED physicians, psychiatric teams, social workers, and community agencies
  • Coordinate care and admissions to inpatient psychiatric unit when necessary
  • Participate in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrate quality in documentation
  • Must be on site
  • Must have MHNP Certification


Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:
  • Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner's Program OR certification from an accredited NP program OR completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical setting.
  • Ability to meet and maintain credentialing requirements and hospital priviledges.
  • Knowledge and competency in a wide range of clinical areas.
  • Familiar with EHR/EMR software.


Licensure/Certification Requirements

REQUIRED:
  • Current NYS Nurse Practitioner licenses OR Current NYS license as a Physician Assistant with prescription privileges.
  • Current BCLS, ACLS certifications.

PREFERRED:
  • Active ANCC certification in relevant specialty
