JOB SUMMARY:Under the direction of the Clinical Director or Staff Psychiatrist - Outpatient, provides direct psychiatric care to patients assigned to outpatient psychiatric facilities within the UTMB sector of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- Provides direct psychiatric care to patients assigned to psychiatric outpatient facilities, under the supervision of the Clinical Director or Staff Psychiatrist - Outpatient.
- Regularly participates in clinical consultations with the facility mental health and medical staff.
- Conducts psychiatric assessments and develops treatment plans for assigned patients under the supervision of the Clinical Director or Staff Psychiatrist - Outpatient.
- Participates in the psychiatry QI/QM program.
- Provides emergency psychiatric call.
- Works all assigned hours as required.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for department.
- Performs related duties as required.
EQUIPMENT:Standard office and medical equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:Work environment is located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:- Graduation from an Accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program.
- Current licensure to practice in the State of Texas.
- Mental health experience required.
- Current BLS-HP required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:- Correctional experience is preferred.
Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
