What You will Do:The Control and Diagnostic Systems (CDS) discipline is seeking a high-energy Senior Fellow specializing in propulsion system diagnostics and prognostics. This role spans advanced, commercial, and military engine programs, focusing on product development, technology maturation, and integration into future products. Additionally, the role involves mentoring and developing the next generation of engineers.
Pratt & Whitney requires optimized aftermarket support through disruptive technologies and methods to analyze development engines and fleet data. The goal is to create reliable alerts for impending failures, reducing warranty costs, IFSD, and AOG exposures. This ensures passenger safety, customer loyalty, and a profitable business model for Pratt & Whitney and RTX.
Key responsibilities include:- Lead advancements in diagnostic and prognostic technologies for commercial and military propulsion systems, including onboard/offboard solutions and control integration.
- Develop and implement real-time and off-board hardware/software solutions for performance monitoring, trending, and alerting, leveraging emerging techniques.
- Provide technical leadership for diagnostic and prognostic systems across the PWA product family.
- Drive research into next-generation aerospace solutions, including embedded diagnostic AI and wireless data download techniques.
- Advance AI and ML applications for commercial and military engines, expendables, and APUs.
- Represent P&W in discussions with government customers, suppliers, and certification authorities.
- Promote low-risk adoption of new technologies for reliability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with CIPTs, technology managers, aftermarket teams, and broader engineering groups to facilitate technology integration.
- Research and align emerging diagnostic/prognostic trends with aerospace software standards.
- Partner with RTRC, universities, and Raytheon divisions to foster innovation and adopt new standards.
- Refine practices for embedded systems management and cybersecurity.
- Mentor and develop future diagnostic and prognostic experts at P&W.
- Travel Requirement: 10%

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 14 years' experience in engineering related discipline or an advanced degree and 12 years' experience

Qualifications We Prefer:
- Proven expertise in developing, fielding, and monitoring diagnostic/prognostic techniques.
- Deep knowledge of safety-critical standards (e.g., DO-178B Level A, MIL-516C).
- Technical leadership experience with mentoring capabilities.
- Collaboration experience with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Expertise in diagnostic methods, field investigations, and data analysis.
- Proficiency in Python and MATLAB.
- Hands-on experience with DO-178B and MIL-516C standards.
- Knowledge of aircraft engine systems and control software.
- Experience with real-time aircraft data acquisition systems.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
