Full Job Description
SUMMARY:

The Controller will work closely with all members of the accounting department. This individual will have ownership of the accounting, administration, and reporting of multiple properties. This includes maintaining general accounting practices, internal controls, financial analyses and reporting. They will mentor and provide hands-on training to members of accounting, as well as enhance and streamline processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

§ Manage day-to-day accounting matters and month-end close process

§ Manage the annual audit process for all applicable entities, including coordination with external auditors and internal teams

§ Coordinate the preparation of the annual budget with Accounting and Asset Management, monitor operating results and ensure that forecasts are up-to-date; provide ad hoc reporting to management

§ Review of financial statements and footnotes

§ Develop and review monthly and quarterly reporting and cash projections

§ Improve processes for timing of monthly close

§ Perform an analytical review of monthly operating results and accounting workbooks

§ Review and understand deal documents, including partnership agreements, joint venture operating agreements and loan agreements

§ Facilitate K-1 preparation with tax advisor

§ High-level review of CAM reconciliations

§ Maintain technical accounting compliance, including consultation with external auditors and tax advisors on complex accounting and tax issues as necessary

§ Support operating departments with timely financial information

§ Manage investor reporting and reviews

§ Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all processes and data, while enhancing the company's value

§ Participate in a wide variety of special projects and reports

§ Mentor and train members of accounting

Requirements

§ 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience with a minimum of 3 years in property and fund accounting

§ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA is a plus

§ 3+ years managing accounting staff

§ Experience with, at minimum, $500 million AUM

§ Working knowledge of construction accounting and job cost

§ Experience with MRI, Yardi, Kardin or equivalent accounting and budgeting/forecasting software

§ Well versed in PC based financial application systems and databases with advanced knowledge of Excel (building models, templates, VLOOKUP, macros/pivot tables)

§ Intermediate understanding of financial modeling and concepts, including yields, DCF, cap rates, IRRs, etc.

§ Ability to work independently in a face-paced, high growth environment

§ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

§ Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage deadlines

§ Superior written and verbal communication skills

Salary: $160-180k commensurate on experience, plus bonus
