Overview

AmTrust Financial Services seeks a Technical Field Manager for our Property Claims department. This position values previous supervisory experience, mentorship and/or field property training experience. The Property Claim Technical Field Manager leads a team of 5-7 field property and technical claim services professionals in the handling of first-party commercial property claims. Critical skills and responsibilities include the technical development of field claim professionals and the ability to drive improved technical claim quality and outcomes. Expert technical knowledge of coverage, causation, investigation, evaluation of building and business personal property damages, and ultimate resolution is a pre-requisite. These claims arise in various jurisdictions throughout the country and, as such, experience and licensing in multiple jurisdictions is required. This position will also have personnel administration responsibilities and may be involved in cross-functional claims projects.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities Essential Job Functions

  • Provides timely and effective coaching with an emphasis on staff development.
  • Oversees the handling of all aspects of property claims including reserving, communication, documentation, damage evaluation, estimating, negotiation, and resolution.
  • Ensures new claims are assigned to unit members based on complexity and skill level of staff.
  • Ensures all property claims conform to technical quality, production standards and specifications.
  • Ensures field claim processing is consistent with applicable policies, procedures, and department guidelines.
  • Provides direction and oversight to field vendors as needed.
  • Provides file authority as appropriate to team members.
  • Supervises maintenance of all claim records.
  • Assists in any response to consumer complaints.
  • Prepares regular periodic reports and monitors system reports to ensure adherence to corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Completes special projects and other tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Establishes and executes controls to assure that the quality of the work meets or exceeds standards.
  • Reviews and analyzes processes, procedures, and workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
  • May recruit, hire and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
  • Manages personnel administration including employee evaluations and salary administration.
  • Manages the development and training of subordinates, including monitoring and relaying information to the staff regarding changes in coverage and laws.
Qualifications

Position Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of laws, principles of property coverage, liability and insurance industry in general.
  • Experience utilizing Xactimate estimating platform to prepare property damage estimates.
  • Analytical and human relations skills are critical.
  • Leadership skills; ability to plan, organize, delegate and develop staff.
  • Effective communication skills; ability to obtain and deliver information to others orally and in written form.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and direction.
  • Ability to operate business technology.

Education/Experience

  • College degree or equivalent experience and skills required.
  • Valid adjuster’s license in appropriate jurisdictions or ability to obtain such.
  • Experience with first-party commercial property claims and with commercial construction estimating.

Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future.
