As part of Emerson's Digital Twin Projects team, as a Project Engineer you will contribute to the design and implementation of simulation systems that model real-world power plant behavior for training, testing, and operational improvement. This role provides meaningful exposure to customer-facing projects, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous technical development within a supportive, people-first environment. This position is based in our Cranberry Township, PA office.

The Power & Water Solutions business focuses on upgrading existing power plant systems with industry leading automation controls and instrumentation to promote sustainability and longevity of our North American power grid.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Support the design, configuration, and implementation of digital twin simulation systems that meet customer and project requirements.
  • Develop, test, and validate control logic models that accurately replicate real-world power plant operations in simulated environments.
  • Collaborate closely with process simulation engineers, project managers, and cross-functional partners to solve problems and share learnings.
  • Participate in customer-facing activities such as simulation validation, performance testing, and acceptance testing.
  • Contribute to global and cross-disciplinary projects by supporting senior engineers and gaining exposure to multiple engineering domains.
  • Proactively learn simulation tools, automation platforms, and industry standards to support career growth and expanded technical capability.
  • Support the development and improvement of internal tools and processes that enhance the efficiency of digital twin projects.

For This Role You Will Need:
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or a similar STEM degree
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on engineering experience, ideally related to automation, simulation, controls, or similar technical disciplines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to learn new tools and concepts efficiently
  • Clear and effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements


Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 5 years of engineering experience in automation, simulation, or controls
  • Experience with simulation platforms (e.g., HYSYS, MATLAB, Simulink)
  • Exposure to power generation systems, plant operations or industrial environments
  • Prior experience supporting customer-facing projects, training programs, or technical workshops
  • Interest in continuous learning and staying current with industry advancements in automation, simulation, and control systems
