Full Job Description
Manages multiple small construction projects or one large construction project, in general construction, asphalt, concrete, or bridge disciplines; maintaining the highest levels of safety and meeting or exceeding company and customer quality standards. Essential Functions • Manages total construction project to meet design, budget and scheduling specifications: • Coordinates work with other contractors • Interfaces with client representatives • Authorizes and approves project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, field design change requests • Facilitates collaboration between Estimating, Project Control, scheduling and other internal departments to keep project on track • Analyzes project plan, cost performance, weather conditions and equipment availability • Ensures resource availability • Provides weekly schedule updates • Plans, coordinates and supervises onsite • Provides day to day direction to field staff • Manages project labor, including hiring, disciplining and firing • Provides technical assistance as needed • Assists project management with project procedures, working documents and standards • Ensures all onsite personnel comply with required project, safety, OSHA procedures and work rules • Resolves conflicts and labor relations issues; understands contract agreements with regard to scheduling and assigning work • Manages performance of employees; ensures that work meets customer and company expectations for quality and technical specifications • Communicates effectively: • Advises project manager or senior managers of problems, potential problems, schedule difficulties • Shares information about work plan with subordinates, peers, subcontractors • Collaborates with project control, estimating, schedule and equipment to keep project on schedule • Facilitates collaboration among work crews • Promotes and maintains safe work environment: • Exhibits safe work behaviors; evaluates work area for hazards; eliminates or controls hazards • Wears all prescribed PPE • Leads daily safety huddles and safety training; follows safe work plans • Ensures subordinate employees are following safe work plan and exhibiting safe behaviors • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills. Education Qualifications • Required Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related field Experience Qualifications • Required 8+ years experience supervising a field construction crew • Preferred prior experience in heavy highway construction Licenses and Certifications • Drivers License Required Working Conditions/Physical Demands • Continuous exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites, including heights, moving vehicles, stopped traffic • Continuous exposure to equipment cabs, including computer controls, dials, handles, knobs, switches • Outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, precipitation, heat, humidity, dust, asphalt and/or concrete, dirt • Regular exposure to noise, including horns, mechanical equipment, heavy equipment, jackhammers • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes and airborne particles • Regular exposure to indoor work environments including job trailers, field offices or asphalt plants/labs • Climbs in and out of equipment, job trucks or trailers • Uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue • Uses good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination, with the ability to quickly move arms and legs, to operate equipment, hand tools, laptop, tablet • Possess excellent stamina to work between 8-12 hours per day • Uses sight and sound to visualize work area • Travel is primarily local during business day; some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
