Air Liquide is hiring for a Project Scheduler in Houston, TX.

The Project Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, and progress reporting in support of department standards, proposals, and projects. Duties will typically be performed within an office setting during the Proposal and Engineering phases and then on site during Construction and Commissioning for local projects. Out-of-town projects may require periodic site visits.

Job Responsibilities:

General:
  • Provide necessary information for establishing time objectives to meet project requirements
  • Coordinate client, engineering, and operations interfaces to ensure smooth and timely flow of information
  • Provide project management with information pertinent to the control of the project


Basics:
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the project time schedule
  • Use the project time schedule to drive the execution and timely completion of the project
  • Work in accordance with Air-Liquide scheduling procedures and requirements
  • Assist leadership with implementation of project controls strategy
  • Contribute actively to the knowledge exchange within the Scheduling Team


Proposal Phase:
  • Participate in the execution strategy and develop the frame schedule
  • Utilize estimated quantities and reference projects to validate durations
  • Prepare the Basis of Schedule, including clear and specific assumptions
  • Prepare the Project Schedule Execution Plan


Project Baseline:
  • Read the contract in order to understand the project scope, milestones, and reporting requirements
  • Utilize existing templates and/or reference projects as a starting point for schedule development
  • Utilize the project documents and team collaboration to confirm full scope is represented
  • Revise and/or assign activity codes & WBS structure for baseline progress schedule
  • Revise and/or develop required layouts for baseline progress schedule
  • Revise and/or assign resources for baseline progress schedule
  • Revise and/or load progress weights per Air Liquide scheduling procedures and requirements
  • Develop baseline progress curves using both early and late finish dates
  • Communicate timephased manpower requirements in order to meet schedule
  • Prepare SMART presentations to discuss, summarize and validate the planning assumptions and basis


Project Execution:
  • Ensure the full scope continues to be represented in the schedule
  • Collect progress status from client, engineering, operations, suppliers, and third party entities
  • Assist the technical team with internal schedules to control and monitor key tasks.
  • Update schedule based on actual project status and anticipated evolution
  • Utilize P6 manpower loading and earned value metrics to forecast remaining schedule and staffing
  • Track the internal and external milestones versus the contract, target, and previous forecast
  • Update progress curves using both earned and remaining (forecast) values
  • Analyze critical path(s), schedule variances, progress trends, and resource allocation
  • Develop and implement solutions / mitigation strategies for identified critical scenarios / problems
  • Communicate status and analysis to project team via schedule layouts, tables, curves, and briefings
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly reports (e.g. PSR)
  • Incorporate approved changes to the schedules via backup copy and "Maintain Baseline" function in P6
  • Update the Basis of Schedule, including mitigation actions taken in the monthly update


Construction:
  • Assist the site manager and subcontractor manager with planning
  • Perform and/or validate quantity takeoffs for additional scope
  • Confirm local rates of production for determination of budget manhours
  • Refine the Air Liquide standard Subcontractor Schedule Specification for each ITB (Invitation to Bid)
  • Review subcontractor schedules for adherence to project specifications and need dates
  • Understand and challenge the subcontractors' plans before implementation into the main schedule
  • Import subcontractor schedules into the master progress schedule and make necessary logic ties
  • Walk jobsite to monitor safety and evaluate physical progress
  • Review accuracy of subcontractor schedule updates and adherence to their initial plan
  • Analyze subcontractor claims for delay and associated mitigation / recovery plans
  • Incorporate contract changes into the master progress schedule and current approved baseline schedule
  • Prepare schedules as requested or by anticipation, proposing scenarios and what-if simulations
  • Backup all Planning related as-builts and Lessons Learned to ensure benchmark and handover

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Minimum 3 years experience in EPC Project Scheduling
  • Large project experience preferred


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understand basic workflows for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction
  • Understand plot plans, PFDs, P&IDs, one-line diagrams
  • Proficient with Primavera P6 scheduling software, including multi-file group projects and data extraction
  • Proficient with Physical Progress and Earned Value measurement systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel & Google Sheets including pivot tables, lookup formulas, and curves
  • Proficient with Google Docs, Slides, and Gmail
  • Balance strategic (big picture) thinking with tactical application (detail-oriented)
  • Work effectively on multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Meet deadlines and fulfill customer requirements
  • Effectively present and facilitate discussion for large / small groups
  • Lead, influence, and drive behavior change without formal authority
  • Effectively resolve issues and conflicts
  • Prioritize and execute tasks with minimal direction
