About the Role

As a Construction Project Manager at Z Modular, a division of Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in overseeing all phases of multi-family modular construction projects, from fabrication through erection and final turnover. This position requires strong project management skills, budget and schedule oversight, and effective collaboration across cross-functional teams. You will contribute directly to ensuring the successful and timely completion of projects while aligning project goals with the needs of construction, logistics, manufacturing, and stakeholders.

You will collaborate with internal teams including construction, logistics, design/engineering, manufacturing, subcontractors, vendors, and external partners, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality expectations. This is a full-time, onsite role at our Laveen, AZ jobsite.

This position may eventually require approximately 70-80% travel to project sites and customer locations throughout the United States.

What You'll Do

Project Oversight & Planning
  • Manage large-scale modular construction projects, ensuring timely and efficient delivery within approved budgets and project scope.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain detailed project schedules to achieve key milestones and deliverables.
  • Lead strategic project planning efforts by identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions.
  • Oversee project change management processes to align scope, schedule, and budget adjustments with business objectives.

Collaboration & Leadership
  • Lead and mentor cross-functional teams across construction, logistics, design/engineering, and manufacturing functions.
  • Drive collaboration among internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and external partners to ensure successful project execution.
  • Resolve complex project challenges and conflicts while promoting accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
  • Provide guidance and support to assistant project managers and project managers to strengthen team performance and project outcomes.
  • Partner with the General Manager, Projects to align project priorities with organizational goals and strategic initiatives.

Budgeting & Financial Management
  • Develop and manage project budgets while monitoring financial performance against established targets.
  • Lead cost control initiatives by tracking expenditures and identifying opportunities to improve project profitability.
  • Negotiate and manage change orders to support project requirements while maintaining budget expectations.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports and project updates to senior leadership.

Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination
  • Negotiate and administer contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to support project objectives.
  • Monitor subcontractor and vendor performance to ensure compliance with quality standards and project schedules.
  • Oversee procurement activities to secure materials and resources required to achieve project milestones.

Compliance & Safety Oversight
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, building codes, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee permitting and regulatory processes to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Drive quality assurance initiatives to ensure project deliverables meet specifications and stakeholder expectations.

Communication & Reporting
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead Owner, Architect, Contractor (OAC) meetings to provide project updates, address challenges, and drive resolution of issues.
  • Deliver accurate project reports and status updates tailored to stakeholder and leadership needs.
  • Complete all required reports accurately and promptly.
  • Report weekly on the status, progress, risks, and performance of multiple projects to management.
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication among project teams to support alignment and execution.

Safety Leadership
  • Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.


Who You Are
  • 5-8 years of experience in hands-on construction project management, preferably within modular construction, multi-family construction, or related building environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Building Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Proficient in project management software including Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledgeable in construction processes, safety standards, building codes, and modular manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, and change orders.
  • Procore Certification, Project Management Professional (PMP), and/or OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and active construction site environments.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Willing to travel up to 70-80%
