PROJECT MANAGER (PM)
Job Description

Department: Professional Services
Reports To: Director of Service
Position type: Full Time Salaried

Position Summary
The Project Manager owns the planning, execution, and delivery of projects at West Central Technology, ensuring each project is completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with the defined scope and client expectations. The role serves as the central point of accountability for projects and is the client's primary point of contact for the duration of each project.

Key Responsibilities
This role includes:
  • Own the full project lifecycle from Presales handoff through final closeout, including SOW and budget review, verification of project finances, building the project plan, conducting kickoff meetings, and scheduling technicians against the timeline
  • Direct day-to-day project execution, coordinating assigned technicians and aligning with the Service Coordinator on shared resources so field and project time do not conflict, while keeping status, notes, and tickets current
  • Protect the financial health of each project by monitoring hours against budget and timeline, validating completed work against the SOW before it is billed, working with Presales on change orders when related work expands scope, routing out-of-scope reactive work to the Service Coordinator, and completing monthly progress billing with the finance team
  • Serve as the client's point of contact throughout the project, providing regular status updates, managing expectations around scope and timeline proactively, and documenting significant communications within the project tickets
  • Coordinate across Professional Services, Field Services, and the Service Desk to keep delivery smooth, conduct formal closeouts with client sign-off via the Certificate of Operability, and provide structured feedback to Presales so future scoping improves

Performance Measures
Performance in this role is measured against defined targets for the following. Specific target values are set and reviewed through the performance management process and may be adjusted over time.
  • Accountability: Percentage of workable hours accounted for through time entries, regardless of work type
  • Project Management Utilization: Percentage of recorded time spent on Project Management tasks
  • Weekly Project Billables: Percentage of workable engineer hours billed to projects
  • Project Hours Scheduled for the Following Week: Percentage of the upcoming week's workable hours scheduled for project work

Reporting Relationship
The Project Manager operates within the Professional Services vertical and reports to the Director of Service. The "Manager" designation reflects ownership and management of the active projects being worked, not supervisory responsibility over other employees.

Work Environment & Expectations
  • Mix of remote, onsite client work, and in-office collaboration
  • Occasional after-hours or weekend work for project cutovers
  • Ability to lift and move IT equipment (up to 50 lbs)
