Reporting to the Manager, Production Irradiator Engineering, the Project Manager is responsible for leading multidisciplinary engineering projects from initiation through commissioning and closeout. This role coordinates engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality, logistics, and customer stakeholders to ensure successful project execution while meeting financial, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction objectives.The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders and provides leadership to project teams to achieve project goals while managing risks, resources, budgets, and schedules.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource forecasts while considering commercial, technical, legal, and regulatory requirements, and track progress as per Nordion's product development process.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, deliverables, milestones, and success criteria.
- Lead project kick-off meetings and establish communication plans.
- Coordinate all phases of project execution from concept through commissioning.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions as required.
- Manage project change requests and ensure proper documentation and approvals.
- Conduct regular project review meetings and provide status reports. Prepare and present project status reports to leadership.
- Manage customer expectations regarding scope, schedule, cost, and risk.
- Coordinate communication between internal departments.
- Identify project risks, maintain risks and issues log, implement risk mitigation strategies, and report/escalate issues to management as needed.
- Adhere to Nordion's Environmental, Health & Safety Policies, Quality Management System, and any other organizational procedures.
- Ensure proper project documentation is maintained and support project audits.
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
QualificationsEducation:
Post-secondary engineering or other technical degree
Experience:
Minimum 5 years' experience managing and/or leading multiple complex
technical projects, ideally with some experience managing engineering projects
Certificates:
Project Management Certification, such as PMP, would be a strong asset
Skills and Competencies- Deep understanding of project management tools, techniques and best practices.
- Experience working and applying project management methodologies - traditional/waterfall, Agile and visual management.
- Strong working knowledge of MS products (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project), Recent and relevant working experience with management systems.
- Basic understanding of business principles and contracts.
- Ability to learn new tools and techniques quickly and grasp unfamiliar technical concepts quickly.

- Prior experience in nuclear industry or similar high-reliability or regulated environments.
- Prior experience managing engineering projects and/or a technical background in engineering.
