Project Manager, Transportation & Transit Vehicle Maintenance Facilities

Who Are We Looking For?

Reporting to the Team Leader in Rail & Transit, the Project Manager oversees the planning, design, and delivery of municipal and infrastructure projects, including vehicle maintenance facilities that support clients' organizational priorities and community needs. You will lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering high-quality capital and maintenance projects while fostering innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping municipal transportation facilities and infrastructure through strategic leadership, partnership, sound financial management, effective project delivery, and long-term asset stewardship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and design phase of municipal facility and infrastructure projects.
  • Deliver projects safely and effectively while managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Develop and implement State of Good Repair (SOGR) and asset management programs to support long-term infrastructure sustainability. It includes managing facility condition assessments and lifecycle evaluations to identify the requirements for rehabilitation, renewal, and replacement.
  • Manage, grow and lead multidisciplinary teams consisting of architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and municipal stakeholders.
  • Liaise with Asset Planning, SCADA, Plant Operations, and Maintenance staff to define project requirements, operational needs, asset replacement priorities, and implementation timelines.
  • Knowledgeable of tracking the condition and remaining service life of major building assets, including roofs, HVAC systems, electrical systems, building envelopes, structural components, and other critical infrastructure, to support capital planning and investment strategies.
  • Liaise with Municipal, Provincial, and Federal agencies' representatives to obtain permits, approvals, and regulatory clearances necessary for project implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, standards, and municipal policies.
  • Support strategic planning, business development, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.


What You Bring
  • 5-10 years of progressive project management experience, preferably with an engineering organization, municipality, city, town, regional government, utility, or other public-sector organization.
  • Proven experience delivering municipal facilities, civic buildings, public works facilities, transit facilities, transit maintenance and operations centres, and infrastructure renewal projects.
  • Proven experience in condition assessments, lifecycle planning, and capital forecasting to lead state-of-Good-Repair programs.
  • Knowledge of facility operations, maintenance practices, and municipal asset management principles.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulatory requirements, and experience coordinating approvals and permits with Municipal, Provincial, and Federal agencies.
  • Experience with various contract models, for example; Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, Construction Management, and P3 delivery models.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, financial management, and contract administration capabilities.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario or other Provinces within Canada.


The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $120,000. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
