Full Job Description
Job Title: Project Manager | The Compass

Location: Dayton, OH

Who You Are:
Managing projects is a little like driving your company carpool group in rush hour traffic... on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend... while it is pouring down rain and your windshield wipers are streaking because something is stuck under the driver-side wiper blade.

There are other drivers to watch out for (is that guy eating a sandwich while talking on the cell phone and steering with his elbows?) and traffic updates to monitor so you can try to avoid a major traffic jam. And all the while, people inside the car are talking way too loudly while they fiddle with the radio and change your AC settings.

Like a driver trying to navigate in challenging situations you should have great situational awareness and laser-like focus while scanning the road ahead for potential hazards. You cannot always control what is going on inside the car or in the lanes around you, but you can anticipate problems and prepare to react when needed. Through sunny days or thunderstorms, you are always the cool hand at the wheel.

The bottom line: You play a key role in our successful delivery of projects. You make sure everyone gets home safe and you are willing to take responsibility for the success of the journey. You understand your team and the short-term steps needed for long-term success. At times it is a thankless job, but your ability to communicate, work well with others, and keep track of a thousand small details is invaluable to the success of the team.

What You'll Do:

As part of the Program Management Office (PMO) you will work with our customers and technical subject matter experts to define the scope and schedule of projects. You will manage stakeholder requirements to ensure that project execution aligns with (possibly) changing expectations throughout the process. You will work across teams to ensure personnel are utilized to the best of their ability during and between projects. Finally, you will use your exceptional situational awareness to identify potential risks so that we do not hit a pothole and blow a tire.

Minimum Qualifications/What You'll Bring:
  • 3+ years of project management experience
  • Experiencing managing government contract types including CPFF, T&M, FFP
  • Experience leading diverse teams across multiple locations & time zones
  • Demonstrated ability to determine project scope, set project schedules, and manage resources
  • Experience communicating and presenting to all levels within a company, including leadership, stakeholders, and customers
  • Strong financial acumen with ability to build project budgets and expenditure plans
  • Competency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Experienced in project management processes and fundamentals

Nice to Haves:
  • Experience with government contracting compliant ERP software, such as Unanet
  • Project Management Institute Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • AGILE certifications including Scrum Master, Scrum Product Owner
  • Active Secret US government security clearance with TS/SCI eligibility

Education/Credentials:
  • BA or BS degree in one of the business disciplines (management, accounting, operations, etc.) or STEM
  • US Citizenship is required for consideration, as this job requires a US government security clearance.
    • Required - Secret security clearance
    • Nice to have - Top Secret with current SCI access

What We offer:

As a nationally recognized Great Place to Work® and Military Times® Best for Vets: 2025 Employer, we prioritize employee well-being and experience, fostering a culture that values dedicated teams and committed individuals. Our premier total compensation package for eligible employees includes:
  • Comprehensive health benefits encompassing medical, dental, and vision coverage.
