About This Role The Weapon Systems business is seeking a Project Manager for the Wilmington, MA location. The Project Manager will own a subset of a major defense program, under the supervisor of a Program Manager, and work within a highly collaborative and dynamic Program Office.
This role requires strong organization, teamwork, and communication skills to ensure effective program execution in a dynamic, fast-paced, technically intensive engineering and manufacturing environment. Successful candidates will be action-oriented, high-energy, and able to apply strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills while communicating clearly and collaborating effectively.
Responsibilities: The Project Manager will have responsibilities including but not limited to the following:
- Coordinating financial, technical, and schedule performance across complex engineering development activities to deliver technically sound solutions that meet evolving program and contract requirements.
- Driving cross functional technical alignment and resolving dependencies across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and customer teams.
- Managing projects in the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), including all cross functional dependencies, to develop a comprehensive understanding of critical paths and key program drivers.
- Supporting Control Account Managers (CAMs) in execution to a baseline budget - ensuring accurate Estimates to Complete and robust variance reporting from all CAMs supporting a subset of the program.
- Coordinate with the internal procurement organization to provide program updates and manage changes, ensuring material procurement aligns with established program timelines
- Supporting internal and external stakeholder engagement by providing timely program communications and delivering reliable problem solving to resolve customer issues.
- Assisting with proposal generation and submittal to the customer.
Qualifications Required Skills:- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply Chain, or similar discipline required.
- 3+ years of experience working on project teams, inclusive of project schedule development / monitoring and risk management.
- Technical aptitude and the capability to navigate complex engineering conversations and support informed decision making across technical disciplines.
- Proficiency in MS office to perform detailed analysis, develop and utilize advanced formulas, pivot tables, reports, charts, schedules, and databases.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven capability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and drive cross functional alignment.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Active Secret clearance with an ability to obtain Special Access approval
Desired Skills:- 2+ years of experience in formal project or program management roles.
- Technical professional experience
- Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
- Knowledge of risk and opportunity management practices.
- Experience supporting or developing proposals.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Supply Chain and the supplier base.
- PMP certification or equivalent credential preferred.
- Prior U.S. military, defense, or aerospace industry experience preferred.
