Department: Corporate Security - Physical & Cyber

Reports to: Sr Manager - Third Party Supply Chain Risk
Location: In Office, Orange CT

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from:
  • $116,640 - $145,800


Job Summary

The Project Manager: Security (Security Operations Center) at the direction of the Senior Manager - Physical Security, will lead the operations of a multi-function team based at the company's SOC in Orange, CT. The SOC manager's primary function is to provide technical guidance if needed, detect, analyze, communicate, and respond to security events including perceived and actual threats and incidents against Avangrid people and resources and the ensure the continual monitoring of Avangrid's critical infrastructure in accordance with established regulatory requirements. The SOC Manager is also responsible for assessing domestic and international risk and providing a duty of care support for the company's travelers and operations. The SOC Manager will ensure effective communication and support of the security operations team. They will further support the security operations team by providing alarm and video data as requested in support of investigations. Specific duties may vary, but the SOC Manager will be responsible for reporting and conducting routine audits of the SOC and associated systems, its personnel, and procedures, as well as to ensure the effective and timely response to alarms, calls of distress, incidents, and notification of major incidents to senior management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 24x7 direct supervision of the SOC staff, and analysts.
  • Establish and maintain Operational SOP's in support of the SOC and the broader security team.
  • Establish and maintain training plans and conduct quarterly training of the SOC staff; establish a development program to foster professional advancement of the SOC staff.
  • Ensure serviceability and accountability of all SOC equipment and software.
  • Continue to develop the access control systems, CCTV operation and support the maintenance of electronic security systems.
  • Developing the team's computer skills, including proficiency in the use of the internet, open-source searches, human intelligence gathering, email, word processing, database programs and specialized software systems.
  • Align with Senior Security Management, coordinating efforts as required to ensure that overall Corporate Security mission is achieved.
  • Incident management and appropriate escalation of incidents to senior leadership.
  • Responsible for maintaining specific awareness of domestic and international risks.
  • Support security operations with reporting and investigations.
  • Selection, management, and training of contracted staff.
  • Provide leadership/guidance and critically review work product.
  • Manage work scheduling of contractors to ensure appropriate 24x7x365 coverage.
  • Conduct critical research related to global events that could potentially impact the company.
  • Track and evaluate specialized reports and established metrics program.
  • Manage the audit of physical access control systems (PACS).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to gather and critically evaluate information and prepare written documents that clearly and concisely identify the issues presented and their proposed resolution.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong business acumen and vendor management experience.
  • Excellent organizational, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong reasoning competence to investigate, analyze, and draw appropriate conclusions.
  • Ability or aptitude to learn to operate access control systems (i.e., AMAG, Lenel Onguard, Andover, C-Cure, etc.).
  • Ability or aptitude to learn to operate video management systems (i.e., Milestone, Genetec, and Avigilon, etc.).

  • Prior operations center experience in Security, Military, or Law Enforcement field.
  • Ability to conduct training in all areas associated with a SOC and Crisis Management.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certification in the security field (CPP, PSP, PCI).
