Full Job Description
Job Summary:

Working under the direction of the Associate Director, Management & Operations (M&O), the Project Manager, M&O plans, executes, and finalizes central level project tasks according to strict deadlines and within budget on a large, United States Government (USG)-funded, multi-country global health project. Acquires resources and coordinates the efforts of the project’s HQ team members to deliver according to plan, including but not limited to Core activity work plan and budget development, activity monitoring and contractual deliverable management and monitoring. They will serve as an operations point of contact to troubleshoot challenges for cross-cutting operational components of the project. Collaborates with FHI 360 enterprise service units, such as Contract Management Services (CMS), procurement, digital technology and others as applicable to ensure smooth project operations.  While this is not a country-focused management role, it is possible that they may provide support to country teams if the needs arise.

This position is contingent on donor funding

Accountabilities:
  • Manages the development of Core workplans and initiatives projects from initiation to completion.
  • Under the guidance of project leadership, contributes to the development of project management tools to ensure timely and efficient project management and monitoring.
  • Develops best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Works closely with project technical and program management team (PMT) members to resolve issues to ensure the project stays on schedule and within budget.
  • Monitors contractual deliverables on a regular basis.
  • Serves as manager for select Core-funded initiatives with a focus on minimizing risk, monitoring budgets, and scope to ensure successful execution of the activities. Troubleshoot issues with project staff and enterprise services to ensure smooth project implementation; track implementation challenges and work with department operations leadership to resolve.
  • Forges and maintains solid cooperation with select partners through regular communication, cooperation and, where appropriate, joint decision-making.
  • May provide backup country project management backstopping support if the need arises.
  • Contributes to the development of Core activity reports.
  • Monitors activity budgets, as applicable.
  • Contributes to the development of tools and techniques for delegating tasks according to the skills of every team member and also to evaluate the performance of all team members.
  • Works with team members to ensure that all project personnel receive an appropriate orientation to the organization and the project and FHI 360 systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervision Given/Received:
  • May supervise Project Officer(s).

Education: **
  • Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent in Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology and Youth or a Related Fields.
  • Project Management (PM) Certification strongly preferred.

Experience: **
  • 8+ years of relevant experience with projects management principles and practices, 2+ years of management experience required.
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization.
  • International or domestic (US) program development or project management preferred.
  • English fluency required
  • Fluency in a second language (French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, etc.) an added advantage.

Typical Physical Demands:
  • Typical office environment.
  • Ability to spend long hours looking at a computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 5 lbs.

Technology to be Used:
  • Personal Computer/Laptop, Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams), cell phone/mobile technology, and standard office equipment.

Travel Requirements:
  • 10% - 25%

The expected US Based hiring salary range for this role is listed below. Candidates FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget. For internal candidates, salary placement will also follow FHI 360’s current promotional increase guidelines. Final compensation will be determined in accordance with applicable law and FHI 360 policy

Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 7% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.

US Based Hiring Salary Range: USD $90,000 - $110,000 annual 

International hiring ranges will differ based on location
