Project Manager

Job Summary

JOB OBJECTIVE

The Project Manager will direct, co-ordinate and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration and engineering the plant site projects to their completion within the area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties personally or through Imerys employees and contractors.

DIMENSIONS

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the job-holder is responsible for:
  • all capital and miscellaneous projects with a typical annual budget of 2 - 3 million dollars
  • management of an average of 20 CapEx Projects per year
  • assurance of all project related activities and personnel management to match the safety culture, environmental and housekeeping standards of plant operations


CONTEXT & SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES

  • Maintain financial control of the annual CapEx project budget. Prepares and controls expenditures and receipts of project budgets on a monthly schedule using SAP financial software.
  • Project planning of new equipment installation schedules coordinated with production operations.
  • Plans engineering projects and organizes each project's resources and staff according to each project's requirements.
  • Instigates and directs specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, project design, preparation of specifications and technical plans.
  • Supervision of installation of each project including project commissioning.
  • Reviews project design and scheduling for compliance with engineering principles, local and company standards, contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Directs integration of technical activities, resolves and reviews technical developments and conflicts in project implementation and commissioning.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Prepares interim and completion of project reports.
  • Maintain all site drawings and documentation
  • Must be able to :-
    • climb stairs (up to 9 floors)
    • work at height and confined spaces
    • able to pick up 50lbs


KEY RESULT AREAS

Principal Accountabilities

  • Promotes the culture of a safe, accident free and healthy work environment guided by Imerys safety policies and protocols, procedures and compliance with local, state and federal Mining Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations. No lost time accidents.
  • Conduct tests and field investigations to obtain data for use by environmental personnel in determining sources and methods of controlling pollutants in air, water and soil.
  • Managers projects to ensure they are completed on time and on budget


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year university and 8-10 years of related experience and technical training, preferably in heavy industrial fully automated process plants.

Must effectively lead and manage others to perform their duties in a safe manner and a high-quality output.

Must have a high level of AutoCAD experience to utilize the existing plant site library of drawings as a tool for developing drawings supporting necessary project documents i.e. production equipment layouts and fabrication details, process flow diagrams, building additions, property site layout including utilities, Rail Road and Traffic management.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret MSHA regulations, technical procedures, equipment and system specifications, Federal / State Air and Stormwater Permit regulations, engineering drawings, International Building / Fire / Mechanical Codes.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present technical information and respond to questions from on-site groups of managers and outside companies.

Ability to work with mathematical, statistical and advanced engineering concepts, including structural, hydraulics, mechanical and electrical power distribution.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

WORKPLACE EXPERIENCE

Industries: Cement Production, Mining Processes

Industrial Process Equipment:
• Conveyors: Airsides, Screw Auger, Bucket Elevator, Belt, Roller, Pneumatic
• Process Equipment: Scalping Screens, Crushers, Weigh Feeders, Ball Mills, Separator/Classifiers, Dust Collectors, Storage Silos, Packaging Systems

Must be proficient with use of personal computer and operating system - Google platform

DEGREE OF SUPERVISION OR DIRECTION

  • Minimal, must be a self-starter and work according to project needs, plant needs and goals.

  • The jobholder must co-ordinate and provide detailed guidelines to outside contractors and work being performed by Imerys employees.
