Job Description

Join Olsson's Federal Engineering & Design Team as a Project Manager II, where you will support the delivery of impactful infrastructure projects for federal clients. In this role, you will work with multidisciplinary teams to plan, design, and support construction for mission-critical facilities for military bases, VA campuses, and other government agencies. These projects require technical excellence, regulatory accuracy, and strong collaboration.

As a Project Manager II, you will oversee project deliverables for small- to mid-sized projects within a single discipline or defined area, as well as low-risk multidisciplinary projects, or provide support on larger project teams. You will be involved throughout the full project life cycle, managing scope, schedule, budget, and quality to ensure projects are completed on time and within established parameters.

You will collaborate closely with internal teams and federal stakeholders to support compliance with UFC, DoD, VA, and other applicable federal standards. From early concept development through project delivery, you will help guide teams toward practical, high-quality engineering and design solutions that meet client needs.

In addition, you will contribute to proposal development and support continuous improvement efforts that enhance our federal design capabilities. This role offers the opportunity to support projects that serve national interests while building your project management expertise within a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of six years of project experience in the Architecture, Engineering, or Construction industry with increasing responsibility.
  • Proven success managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering federal projects for agencies such as DoD and VA.
  • Strong understanding of federal design standards, acquisition processes, contract requirements, and project financials.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • High-level proficiency in client service, negotiation, and decision-making.
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments with precision and integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced settings and exceed client expectations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to mentoring and team development.
  • Deep understanding of consulting business operations and a drive to contribute to firm-wide success.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble and lead federal design teams, aligning technical expertise with project goals and applicable federal requirements.
  • Define and communicate project scope in coordination with technical teams and develop project schedules and budgets in collaboration with clients and contractors.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, review costs, and track financial performance to ensure adherence to planned budgets, client satisfaction, and overall project success.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, maintaining alignment on expectations, performance, and compliance with UFC, DoD, VA, and other applicable federal standards.
  • Identify potential risks, scope changes, and additional costs, and implement mitigation strategies to minimize financial and operational impacts.
  • Manage contracts, change orders, and support contract negotiations, including coordination with technical disciplines on billing and contract requirements.
  • Develop and implement quality management and quality assurance plans to ensure projects meet client expectations and firm standards.
  • Plan, organize, and lead routine project meetings with clients and project teams to support communication, alignment, and progress tracking.
  • Oversee the preparation, delivery, and maintenance of project documentation, including design plans, specifications, correspondence, and performance records.
  • Mentor and support team members by promoting project management best practices using Olsson Project Management programs and related resources.

Why Join Us
  • Contribute to projects that serve national interests and make a difference in communities.
  • Enjoy flexible work arrangements, including remote options, to support your work-life balance.
  • Thrive in a supportive culture that values professional development and teamwork.
