Job Description:

This position is a key member of project teams that are responsible for implementing major projects to change or enhance business practices, processes and systems for the department. Draws on a
broad understanding of the medical center and departmental practices and policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Responsible for transferring stakeholders' perceptions of problems into viable solutions and actionable plans, utilizing diplomacy and flexibility in response changing concerns, while maintain oversight of costs, schedules and quality to ensure critical milestones and deliverables met.
  • Manages all aspects of assigned projects throughout the projects lifecycle including defining project scope, determining resource availability, estimating the time and financial commitment and outlining how to monitor and report on project progress.
  • Manages multiple and competing projects, deadlines and stakeholder relationships, giving appropriate attention to high value projects and those in critical phases.
  • Responsible for devising feasible project plans, including milestones, tasks and target/actual dates of completion, to achieve the goals of the project and align with the organization's priorities.
  • Revises project plans, as appropriate, to meet changing needs and requirements and ensures understating of all stakeholders for reasons and results of change. Escalates relevant changes or risks to appropriate decision-makers.
  • Leads and/or guides other in completing project work plans, current state assessments, change management plans, communication plans, testing plans, spread and scale plans and sustainability plans.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and status of projects timelines and keep stakeholders and senior leadership informed of project statuses.
  • Schedules and lead project meetings to included logistics, agendas and minutes. Conducts regularly scheduled status meetings with stakeholders.
  • Proactively identifies potential projects risks and takes steps to mitigate them. Facilitates cross-functional meetings and discussions to address roadblocks
  • Masters and applies standard project management tools to all projects.
  • Drives a systematic approach to problem solving and process improvement by using quality management and engineering tools.
  • Utilizes data driven approaches to collaboratively evaluate processes and outcomes. Develops plans to revise workflows, conduct tests of change, measure results and support implementation of new processes.
  • Maintains and facilitates a performance improvement culture. Takes initiative to reach out and drive changes and new ways of working.
  • Investigates key performance drivers and understands where the value chain is lost.
  • Uses appropriate statistical process control methods to understand and interpret common cause and variation.
  • Establishes metrics for managing, tracking and sustaining project performance.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a BS Degree in health care related field. Masters preferred. 2-4 years project management experience strongly preferred.
  • Certification in Project Management and/or quality improvement methodologies is preferred.
  • Requires exceptional problem-solving, interpersonal, communication skill required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively influence others and promote a positive change environment are necessary.
  • Seven to ten years of experience related to performance improvement and leading projects or work teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, ability to balance competing priorities, manage multiple projects at various stages and work cross-functionally.
  • Must possess a high level of initiative, creativity and resourcefulness, with the ability to both work independently and as part of a broader team


Physical Requirements & Environment:

  • The nature of work requires close attention to detail for work to be accurately completed. Intermittent breaks during the work day do not compromise the work.
  • Work is varied every day and incumbents need to be adaptable to respond to changes and use independent judgment and manage priorities.
  • No substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Sedentary work; exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, or pulling objects.
  • Regularly walking. Standing only occasionally.
  • The position requires frequent computer use.


Pay Range:
$79,997.00 USD - $135,200.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
