Job Summary

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading, executing, and tracking complex capital and reliability projects within the Power Delivery organization. This role ensures safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of distribution and transmission construction projects, coordinating across engineering, construction, network operations, contract compliance, system planning, and external contractors. The position provides strategic leadership in project readiness, resource planning, contractor oversight, and construction execution throughout the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & Delivery
  • Lead planning, scheduling, and execution of complex distribution and transmission construction projects.
  • Manage project scope, cost, schedule, risk, and quality to meet Power Delivery objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules, work methods, and company standards.
  • Oversee field execution, contractor performance, and construction progress to ensure timely completion.
  • Ensure accurate job package readiness, permitting, materials coordination, and outage planning.
  • Contractor & Resource Management
  • Coordinate with Contract Compliance to assign, monitor, and evaluate contractor crews.
  • Optimize contractor utilization for routine work, capital projects, and storm response.
  • Partner with regional leaders to ensure resource availability and alignment with work plans.
  • Support statewide planning for contractor distribution to minimize response times.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Engineering, Work Management, Network Operations, Transmission, Vegetation Management, and Construction Management to support project readiness and execution.
  • Participate in bi weekly and quarterly work planning sessions to forecast upcoming workloads.
  • Communicate project progress, issues, and risks to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Financial & Administrative Accountability
  • Maintain project cost tracking, forecasting, and variance reporting.
  • Ensure accurate labor and contractor cost charging.
  • Support development of budget inputs for capital and O&M work.


Storm Support & Emergency Response
  • Serve as a key leader for storm restoration activities, including assessment, logistics, contractor direction, and field coordination.
  • Use outage management and operational data to scale resources appropriately for small and large storm events.
  • Leadership & Continuous Improvement
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and leadership to project coordinators, field supervisors, analysts, and contractors.
  • Promote continuous improvement in project execution, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to workflows for the entire project lifecycle.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years utility experience in distribution, transmission, construction, or operations roles.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large scale capital or reliability projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction standards, safety rules, and utility operations.
  • Proven ability to lead cross functional teams and manage complex stakeholder groups.
  • Strong communication, planning, problem solving, and organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP, PE, or utility related certifications.
  • Experience with OMS, GIS, Work Management systems, Maximo, Cognos, or similar tools.
  • Prior contractor management or large project experience in a utility environment.
