Full Job Description
The Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing utility construction projects throughout Texas and Louisiana from initiation through completion. This role oversees project planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, safety compliance, and client communications to ensure successful project delivery. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong utility construction experience, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple utility construction and infrastructure projects simultaneously across Texas and Louisiana
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and work plans
  • Coordinate field operations with Construction Managers, Foremen, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients
  • Monitor project performance and ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, utility companies, municipalities, and other stakeholders
  • Conduct project kickoff meetings, progress reviews, and closeout activities
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize delays and cost impacts
  • Review contracts, scopes of work, drawings, specifications, and change orders
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, utility standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines
  • Track project costs, labor productivity, equipment utilization, and material expenditures
  • Prepare and submit project reports, forecasts, billing documentation, and status updates
  • Support procurement activities and coordinate material and equipment deliveries
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all projects and job sites
  • Utilize project management software and digital tools to improve project efficiency and communication
  • Assist with business development opportunities, estimating support, and client relationship management as needed


Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in utility construction, electrical distribution, underground utilities, transmission, or related infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of utility construction practices, project controls, scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration
  • Experience managing field personnel, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and utility standards
  • Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
  • Knowledge of utility safety regulations, OSHA requirements, and industry best practices
  • PMP certification preferred but not required


Must Be Willing To:

  • Travel extensively throughout Texas and Louisiana
  • Travel on short notice when project demands require
  • Work extended hours, nights, weekends, and overtime when necessary to support project schedules
  • Attend project meetings, customer meetings, and field visits at multiple job locations
  • Work in office and field environments as business needs dictate


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently travel to project sites throughout the region
  • Must be able to walk active construction sites and navigate uneven terrain
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform site inspections
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions when visiting project sites
  • Must maintain visual acuity sufficient to review plans, inspect work, and identify safety concerns


Working Conditions

  • Combination of office-based and field-based work environments
  • Frequent travel throughout Texas and Louisiana
  • Exposure to active utility construction sites, heavy equipment, and varying weather conditions
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required during all job site visits
