Job Description Summary
The Project Manager of Construction & Commissioning (PMCC) will be responsible for controlling and supporting the field operations activities with respect to scope, schedule, and budget with the support of the project stakeholders.

Job Description

The Project Manager Construction and Commissioning (PMCC) is responsible for preparing and controlling the different phases of field operations for a project. This role is crucial to ensure that site works are completed safely, at the required quality standards, on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction sites management, strong leadership skills, and the ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Participate in site work Strategy definition with the Project Director, Construction Leader and Site Manager
  • Proactively anticipate the activities required for site mobilization, including tooling definition, safety equipment, warehousing requirements, offices infrastructures, worker's accommodations, and define the required specific site trainings
  • Prepare the detailed mobilization planning using framework documentation and checklists, and ensuring that resources loading requirements are met as required
  • Lead the mobilization tollgate review representing C&C in all the project related reviews
  • Track the project site documentation for a timely issuance to the customer (methods, site quality plan, commissioning reports, etc.)
  • Build the project financial and physical progress tracking structure for site works and update monthly
  • Perform detailed financial analysis including, but limited to, establish budgets, report costs to date, slippages, claims, and forecasts
  • Proactively engage in risk mitigation and opportunity assessment
  • Travel to sites 25% of the time to review and engage with site operations
  • Perform the site schedule weekly updates for planned vs. actual progress in collaboration with the site manager and project planner
  • Coordinate communications across the project teams to secure project planning and execution
  • Participate in customer and internal meetings
  • Identify the scope management changes for site works and provide oversight to team stakeholders for quantity and quality impacts
  • Prepare the Request for Quotations and Purchase Requests for site works subcontracting
  • Manage specific vendor packages at site (piping, painting, electrical, scaffolding, machining, etc.)
  • Prepare and lead the site demobilization at the end of the project


Required Qualifications:
  • Strong and demonstrated EHS culture
  • Attention to quality management and continuous improvement of quality culture
  • Strong hydroelectric background
  • College or bachelor's degree in management or engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) is recommended, or relevant proven field experience
  • Field management experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal (English and French)
  • Leadership skills
  • Availability to travel within Canada,
  • 10+ years in project management organization in Construction or Commissioning or 3-5 years of direct experience

Le/la Chef de projet Construction et Mise en service (PMCC) est responsable de la préparation et du contrôle des différentes phases des opérations sur site pour un projet. Ce rôle est essentiel pour garantir que les travaux sur site sont réalisés en toute sécurité, selon les standards de qualité requis, dans les délais et dans le respect du budget. Le/la candidat(e) idéal(e) possède une vaste expérience en gestion de chantiers, de solides compétences en gestion et la capacité de résoudre les problèmes rapidement et efficacement.

Responsabilités principales :
  • Participer à la définition de la stratégie des travaux sur site avec le Directeur de Projet, le Responsable de Construction et le Chef de Chantier
  • Anticiper de manière proactive les activités nécessaires à la mobilisation du site, y compris la définition des outillages, des équipements de sécurité, des besoins en stockage, des infrastructures de bureaux, des logements pour les travailleurs, et définir les formations spécifiques requises sur site
  • Préparer la planification détaillée de la mobilisation en utilisant la documentation et les check-lists de référence, et veiller à ce que les besoins en ressources soient couverts
  • Diriger la revue de passage de jalons de mobilisation en représentant la Construction & Mise en service dans toutes les revues liées au projet
  • Assurer le suivi de la documentation de chantier pour envoi au client dans les délais (méthodes, plan qualité chantier, rapports de mise en service, etc.)
  • Mettre en place la structure de suivi de l'avancement physique et financier des travaux sur site et la mettre à jour mensuellement
  • Réaliser des analyses financières détaillées incluant, sans s'y limiter, l'établissement des budgets, le suivi des coûts engagés, les dérives, les réclamations et les prévisions
  • S'impliquer de manière proactive dans la mitigation des risques et l'évaluation des opportunités
  • Se déplacer sur les sites environ 25 % du temps pour examiner et soutenir les opérations sur site
  • Réaliser la mise à jour hebdomadaire du planning de chantier (prévu vs réalisé) en collaboration avec le chef de site et le planificateur de projet
  • Coordonner les communications entre les équipes projet afin de sécuriser la planification et l'exécution du projet
  • Participer aux réunions interne et avec le client
  • Identifier les évolutions de périmètre pour les travaux sur site et superviser les parties prenantes pour en évaluer les impacts en quantité et en qualité
  • Préparer les demandes de devis et les demandes d'achat pour la sous-traitance des travaux sur site
  • Gérer certains lots fournisseurs/ sous traitants sur site (tuyauterie, peinture, électricité, échafaudage, usinage, etc.)
  • Préparer et piloter la démobilisation du site en fin de projet


Qualifications requises :
  • Forte culture Environnement, Santé, et Sécurité
  • Sens aigu de la gestion de la qualité et engagement envers l'amélioration continue de la culture qualité
  • Solide expérience dans le domaine de l'hydroélectricité
  • Diplôme d'études collégiales ou baccalauréat en gestion ou en ingénierie (mécanique ou électrique) recommandé, ou expérience terrain équivalente démontrée
  • Expérience en gestion de chantier est un atout
  • Excellentes compétences en communication écrite et orale (anglais et français)
  • Compétences en leadership
  • Disponibilité pour voyager à travers le Canada
  • Plus de 10 ans d'expérience dans une organisation de gestion de projets en Construction ou Mise en service, ou 3 à 5 ans d'expérience directe


Compétences souhaitées :
  • Certification en gestion de projet
