Job Description

We are looking for a Project Manager to serve as the coordinator and director for large-scale, agency-wide initiatives, with a specific focus on the transition to a new Special Education Student Information System. This position will be Full-Time and Remote.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project direction, issue resolution, and coordination among internal teams, external vendors, and the Bureau of Special Education within the state education agency

  • Ensure all project activities, system features, and implementation decisions align with federal and state special education requirements, including compliance with IDEA and related state regulations

  • Collaborate with the selected vendor on system design, configuration, testing, and implementation to meet operational, reporting, and compliance needs

  • Work closely with subject matter experts, technical specialists, and agency leadership while managing or supporting team members assigned to project tasks

  • Lead planning and execution for statewide rollout across school districts, including coordinating training, supporting user adoption, and ensuring a smooth transition from legacy systems

What You'll Need

Required:

  • 5 years of experience working as a technical Project Manager

  • 3 years of PM experience supporting Student Information System implementations and data integration tools (ETL platforms, APIs)

  • 5 years of experience with project management and collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, MS Project)

  • 3 years of experience developing data validation and reporting tools for compliance reporting

  • 5 years of experience with database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, or Postgres)

  • 3 years of experience with identity and access management technologies (SSO, SAML, AzureAD)

  • 5 years of experience with testing tools (automated or manual test case management platforms)

  • 5 years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

  • 5 years of experience integrating risk management and quality assurance methodologies in projects

Preferred:

  • 3 years of experience with Special Education Student Information Systems in large school districts or at the state level

  • 3 years of experience developing, coordinating, and leading large-scale trainings

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, for significant interaction with team members

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

  • Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
