SUMMARY

High-visibility project delivery role in infrastructure design and building construction for a confident people, resources and client expectation manager.

We are seeking an experienced and confident project professional to take on a key role in the successful delivery of infrastructure design and building construction projects. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in project management, particularly in the areas of scope, schedule, cost, and risk management, who can effectively collaborate with senior leadership and clients to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in project controls to oversee the planning, development, and reporting of assigned projects, ensuring that all project parameters-scope, schedule, cost, and quality-are meticulously tracked and controlled. You will manage project performance through effective communication and decision-making, ensuring that all project activities are aligned with the business objectives and client expectations.

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for defining and implementing project controls systems, including cost forecasting, schedule management, risk management, and progress reporting. You will monitor project performance, identify, and address issues proactively, and ensure that corrective actions are taken to keep the project on track. Additionally, you will work closely with project teams to ensure that all resources, timelines, and budgets are optimized to meet the strategic goals of the organization.

You will be reporting directly to a Senior Project Manager or Project Director and will have oversight on large-scale projects, ranging from $1 million to several hundred million dollars, including facility renovations, new construction, energy retrofits, and critical infrastructure projects. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that the projects adhere to cost and schedule parameters, while maintaining the highest quality standards in every phase, from design and construction management to final delivery.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage detailed project budgets in alignment with the overall capital plan.
  • Track and control project expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets
  • Lead monthly cost forecasting and variance analysis, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions
  • Ensure accurate accruals, commitments and actuals reporting
  • Prepare and present regular financial reports for internal stakeholders and executive leadership
  • Provide insight and commentary on financial performance, identifying key cost drivers and financial risks
  • Support change order reviews and ensure appropriate financial governance is applied.
  • Maintain and update financial risk registers, including contingency tracking and drawdown.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, financial policies and capital governance frameworks
  • Support audits and reviews by providing documentation and rationale for financial decisions
  • Maintain compliance with funding requirements, regulatory standards and stakeholder reporting obligations.
  • Utilize project controls software for cost tracking and reporting
  • Ensure data integrity and main accurate records
  • Identify project risks, and develop and implement mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Establish and maintains effective client relationships.
  • Solve issues and provide support, manage customer expectations and ensure customer satisfaction.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

University degree or college diploma, preferably in project management, architectural technology, construction technology, engineering or engineering technology, or equivalent work experience
  • Five (5) years of project management experience
  • Ability to deliver projects on time, on budget, on spec and in accordance with all requirements including, but not limited to, regulatory, environmental, and health and safety requirements
  • Superior ability to establish and manage a project budget
  • Superior ability to mitigate and manage project risks
  • Ability to influence, persuade and negotiate to achieve desired results
  • Superior communication skills in both official languages and interpersonal skills (asset)
  • Superior ability to build and maintain relationships with various project concerned parties
  • Superior ability to manage customer relationships and expectations
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to manage supplier relationships and performance
