Full Job Description
Responsibilities

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.

Peraton is seeking a Project Management Lead to serve as the day-to-day driver of a high-visibility, multi-system IT consolidation initiative supporting a major federal health agency. This is a complex, cross-functional program with hard contractual deadlines, multiple active workstreams, and significant stakeholder coordination requirements spanning government clients, partner contractors, and internal technical teams.

The Project Management Lead will own the consolidated project schedule, manage risks and dependencies, and serve as the primary point of contact for all consolidation activities. This role requires someone who is proactive, organized, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced federal IT environment where accountability and communication are paramount.

What You’ll Do:

Schedule & Execution Ownership

  • Own and maintain the consolidated project schedule across all active workstreams, ensuring tasks, milestones, and dependencies are current and accurate
  • Run regular team standups and check-ins to surface blockers and keep work sequenced correctly
  • Hold team members accountable to commitments and flag deadline risks early — before they impact the program
  • Track all action items to closure and ensure the team is working the right priorities in the correct order

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all consolidation activities with government clients, partner teams, and internal stakeholders
  • Keep government stakeholders (COR, program office, partner contractor teams) informed of progress, risks, and key decisions
  • Coordinate across multiple cross-functional teams as the program's representative in joint working sessions
  • Facilitate meetings — distribute agendas, capture decisions and action items, and distribute notes in a timely manner
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and document external dependencies that could affect schedule or scope

Risk & Issue Management

  • Maintain an active risk register with owners, mitigation plans, and current status
  • Escalate issues to the Program Manager when they cannot be resolved at the working level
  • Proactively identify and track government-side dependencies — the most likely sources of schedule risk in this environment
  • Know the status of every workstream without having to ask — track proactively and surface issues before they become problems

Quality, Compliance & Contractual Obligations

  • Ensure all deliverables are completed on time and meet government standards

Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements:

  • 7 years with AS/AA; 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD or 11 years with a High School diploma

  • Experience with Risk Identification / Mitigation
  • Experience with Project Management Planning / Scheduling tools
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence and similar management tools
  • Experience working directly with Senior Program Stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of Learning Management System (LMS) migrations or Help Desk transition projects
  • Excellent communication skills

 Preferred Requirements:

  • PMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent project management certification
  • Experience with CMS, HHS, or federal health IT programs
  • Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM) platforms such as Okta or similar IDM solutions
  • Experience supporting system migrations, portal consolidations, or IT decommissioning projects
  • Familiarity with Agile/SAFe delivery environments and sprint-based execution
  • Experience with FISMA compliance processes and CMS security frameworks (CFACTS, CSRAP, ATO)
  • Background in data integration, API-based system connectivity, or cloud infrastructure programs
