Compensation: $48.25 - $53.00 / hour

Description

Wood Rodgers, a leading engineering consulting firm based in California, is hiring a Project Engineer to join our Northern California Transportation Division. We are seeking someone that enjoys studying the effects of transportation infrastructure and land use development projects on local and regional traffic. As part of our team, you will support delivery of exciting transportation projects in California and the communities where we live, work, and play.

This is a staffed, hourly, non-exempt position.

A day in the life as a Wood Rodgers' Transportation Project Engineer

While there is no typical day when you are managing projects and employees, there are a few things you can count on:
  • Leading the Design and analysis transportation systems, including roads, highways, and multimodal facilities. This involves conducting feasibility studies, cost estimates, and developing comprehensive transportation plans.
  • Assisting the Project Manager in delivering transportation projects from inception to completion. This includes preparing project proposals, coordinating with clients and internal teams, delegating assignments to entry-level staff, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Staying up to date with the latest transportation codes, regulations, and standards, ensuring that all projects comply with applicable laws. You will also be responsible for obtaining necessary permits and approvals for regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare technical reports and memorandums that clearly and concisely summarize technical results.
  • Communicate with our clients and agency staff in a manner that supports Wood Rodgers' standard of care and exceptional service.
  • Mentor, train, and oversee technical work of junior staff.
  • Collaborate with our project team to lead and execute our projects including maintaining project budgets, scheduling day-to-day tasks, and meeting project deadlines.
  • Assist in preparation of scope of work, schedule, and budget for project pursuits.
  • Grow the Wood Rodgers' brand by attending industry events.


Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of experience performing the essential duties listed above.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation software.
  • Experience developing Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) packages for highway and local roadway projects.
  • Experience providing design support during project bidding and construction.
  • Experience preparing technical reports.
  • Proficiency in the application of the agency design standards, both local and federal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE). Other relevant certifications, a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presenting technical information to clients and the public and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Base pay is just one part of the comprehensive compensation package offered by Wood Rodgers.
