Full Job Description
Project Engineer - Security (Multiple Openings)

Responsibilities:

The Project Engineer-Security will serve on the SEL-ES Cybersecurity Team and focus on providing industry-leading information security solutions to support the critical infrastructure of electric power utilities. The Project Engineer-Security will be part of a team that designs and commissions high availability networked systems with purpose-built hardened network and security devices, and he or she will plan, implement, upgrade, and monitor a range of information security measures for the protection of SEL's power protection and automation systems and associated computer networks. The incumbent will be required to possess, understand, and apply the concepts, principles, practices, and procedures associated with the maintenance of power system and related network integrity and security (particularly involving industrial control system security issues, technical controls, and power system security assessments, policies, plans, and procedures). In addition, the incumbent will apply the principles of information technology and computer science to: (1) design, build, test and maintain Software Defined Networking ("SDN") security network solutions; (2) design, build, test, and maintain hacker-resistant Substation Operational Technology ("OT") Local Area Networks ("LAN"), Wide Area Networks ("WAN"), and related security infrastructures; (3) design, build, and maintain Authentication Tools for IT security systems and SEL devices; (4) design and build patch and software management tools for IT security systems; (5) design Public/Private Security Keys and Certificates; (6) engage in security-focused configuration of Intelligent Electronic Devices ("IEDs"); (7) design Network Automation scripts; (8) research latest IT and Substation OT security trends and emerging technologies related to network intrusion detection systems, firewalls, operating system security issues, and related topics to identify potential improvements to existing information security systems; (9) develop security requirement test cases; and (10) draft documentation such as flow diagrams and functional design specifications to document network and security architecture and device communication flow.

TRAVEL:

These full-time positions will be based out of the company's Charlotte field office located at 901 Center Park Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina 28217. Because the company has numerous customers nationwide, some travel is required, as the incumbent will occasionally and on a short-term basis be deployed to various customer sites. Candidates must therefore be willing to travel to various unanticipated locations throughout the United States on an ongoing basis. However, the position requires regular on-site work at the Charlotte field office and does not permit remote work or work-from-home arrangements, notwithstanding any required business travel to customer sites.

To Apply:

We ask all candidates to apply through our website at https://www.selinc.com/careers.
