Project EngineerEngineer IIINASA Johnson Space CenterHouston, TexasHX5 is currently seeking a Project Engineer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide design and test support in various aspects of development in support of the EVA Portable Light project.
- Support project teams with development of test procedures and verification and validation processes
- Perform testing and verification of flight hardware
- Maintain and ensure baseline test configurations and document any configuration changes
- Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed
- Work in a collaborative, team environment and report to project managers for technical support, task assignments, and processes
- Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within hardware or test support hardware
- Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions
- Work with technicians to build and test designed systems
- Perform other duties as required

- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- BS degree in an engineering field from an accredited engineering school
- Ability to work autonomously when required
- Self-motivated, team player with adaptability to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required
- Ability to operate in a laboratory environment and perform necessary troubleshooting tasks
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
- Must have the ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical/electrical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team
Requisition Preferences:- Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware
- Experience with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes
- Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis.
- Experience with procedure development Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process
- Prior experience working and coordinating requirements with third party/outside Vendors
- Familiarity with NASA Quality operational procedures and require
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position and offers a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off).
Other Position Requirements: - Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
