Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for aProject Engineer - Flight Projectsto join the team with Barrios, a teammate company!

Responsibilities

The Project Engineer will focus on:

  • Developing project documentation and maintaining status of drawings, procurements, risks. Etc.

  • Working with design team and analyst to ensure project requirements are achieved.

  • Inspection of hardware upon receipt to verify match with fabrication drawing/models

  • Test rig and equipment buildup as needed

  • Data analysis of test results

  • Assist project management with configuration control of project documentation

  • Development of test procedures including working with various organizations across JSC for flight certification of hardware.

  • Working with the ISS community, specifically the vehicle office, to develop integrated operation con-ops

  • Develop presentations.

  • Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and issues and for support.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, plus five (5) years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Experience with the development of requirements documents including functional requirements and verification success criteria.

  • Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware systems

  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and tools

  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products

Preferences:

  • Previous experience in designing and building EVA related unique hardware

  • Previous testing experience

  • Knowledge/use of CAD modeling software

  • Familiarity with machine shop techniques and processing hardware through the manufacturing process.

  • Ability to perform hands on test buildup, data processing, and documentation including test plans and reports

  • Experience with NASA flight hardware certification process highly desired.

  • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures

  • Ability to work independently

Essential Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
  • Generally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
