Project Engineer, Electro-mechanical – Hybrid
3 Days in Towson, Hybrid to Towson
Towson, Maryland, United States
As aProject Engineer, Electro-mechanical, you’ll be part of ourPower Tools Engineeringteam working as ahybridemployee. You’ll get to:
  • Design Li-Ion battery packs, including electronic packaging for battery management systems.
  • Create 3D models, release 2D detailed drawings, and create and manage bills of material from prototype through mass production in the PLM system.
  • Work with product teams on power tool system integration, including chargers and tools.
  • Perform structural analysis using finite element analysis packages.
  • Perform thermal analysis and thermal management for high-power electronic assemblies and power packs.
  • Work with the model shop and suppliers to obtain prototypes and attend product builds at contract manufacturers.
  • Partner with Industrial Design, Marketing, Manufacturing, Compliance, Safety, and Purchasing teams to understand design considerations and product CTQs.
  • Perform tolerance stack-ups, DFMEAs, PFMEAs, process control plans, and release engineering changes.
  • Design test plans and analyze results from advanced testing.
  • Support supplier development for key components and work with contract manufacturers to meet program targets.

The Person:

  • A B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline, with an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 5 67+ years of experience in product development of Li-Ion battery packs and battery management systems.
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling software, with CATIA V5 preferred.
  • Familiarity with printed circuit board design.
  • Hands-on experience conducting tests, analyzing test data, and making recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes for electronic products, including soldering and laser welding.
  • Demonstrated ability to design plastic and metallic components and work with a variety of materials.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet schedule and cost commitments.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with customers and suppliers.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and failure analysis.
  • A strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to travel domestically and internationally.

The Salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $144,900.00
