Project Engineer - Commissioning (Multiple Openings)

Responsibilities:

The Project Engineer-Commissioning is required to possess, understand, and apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of power system commissioning and site acceptance field testing and related company products (involving system protection, software, integration and automation, industrial controls, PLCs, relevant industry protocols-such as IEC-61850, DNP, and Modbus-Ethernet systems, protocol analyzers, and industry SCADA practices). The incumbent will be expected to apply the principles of electrical and mechatronics engineering to: (1) commission, functionally test, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues relating to control system logic, communications, input/outputs, and field wiring; (2) train and assist customers with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of electric power protection and automation systems; (3) complete and implement assigned work within agreed-upon scope, schedule, and budget to a high level of quality and safety; (4) participate in the preparation of functional design specifications; (5) prepare and maintain detailed design documents, reports, checklists, test reports, and deliverables; (6) mentor, direct, control, and exercise discretion over the activities of two Project Engineers under his or her direction, including holding the authority to recommend hiring, firing, and other personnel actions; (7) provide support for other company marketing, sales, application engineering, and development activities; and (8) continuously identify, measure, and improve company engineering processes.

TRAVEL:

These positions will be based out of the company's Houston, Texas field office located at 10111 Richmond Avenue, Suite 300, Houston, Texas 77042. Because the company has numerous customers nationwide, the Project Engineer - Commissioning will be required to travel 70% of the time to various customer sites throughout the continental United States. Candidates must therefore be willing to travel at least 70% of the time. Notwithstanding any required business travel to customer sites, the position requires regular on-site work at the Houston field office and does not permit remote work or work-from-home arrangements.
