Project EngineerSalary: $80,000 - $100,000
Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Project Engineer to join our team in a cGMP-regulated manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Director of Project Engineering, this role is responsible for leading a wide variety of capital and facility improvement projects from concept through completion.
This is not a desk-only engineering position. Approximately half of your time will be spent in the field working alongside contractors, maintenance personnel, and in-house tradesmen to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Projects range from facility maintenance improvements, such as parking lot repairs, to the design and installation of new manufacturing and production lines valued at up to $10 million.
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems in the field, collaborating with skilled trades, and taking ownership of projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities - Plan, develop, coordinate, and execute multiple engineering projects from concept through completion.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, task lists, milestones, and performance objectives.
- Manage manufacturing line projects, facility upgrades, utility improvements, and building modifications.
- Read and interpret process flow diagrams (PFDs) to properly size piping and coordinate process equipment layouts with Process and Production Engineers.
- Collaborate with the CAD and BIM (3D Design) teams to develop and review engineering drawings.
- Coordinate detailed design, construction documentation, installation, and project execution.
- Oversee contractors and work closely with in-house maintenance and trades personnel during construction and installation.
- Prepare cost estimates, manage project schedules, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Quality, and Safety teams to minimize disruption to manufacturing while maintaining compliance.
- Ensure all projects comply with Food Safety, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API), cGMP, and Management of Change (MOC) requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with vendors, contractors, and outside engineering resources.
- Evaluate new technologies and engineering methods to improve facility reliability, efficiency, and functionality.
- Perform all work in accordance with company safety standards and engineering best practices.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of project engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience managing engineering projects from planning through execution.
- Comfortable working directly with contractors, maintenance teams, and skilled trades in an active manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction practices, and industrial projects.
- Experience reading process flow diagrams (PFDs); process piping experience is a plus.
- Manufacturing experience in food or pharmaceutical environments is preferred.
This job description is a complete list of all desired skills, but not all are required. We strongly encourage candidates who have some of the skills to apply. We look forward to a conversation to learn more about you!
