About the OpportunityWe are seeking a highly experienced Project Director to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of major power plant construction projects, with a primary focus on gas turbine and aeroderivative turbine-based generation facilities. This role carries full accountability for project performance, delivering on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability. You will manage cross-functional teams, EPC contractors, vendors, and stakeholders while driving successful commissioning and handover to operations. This is a high-visibility position critical to Solaris's expansion in large-scale, reliable power infrastructure.
Essential Functions- Lead end-to-end project management for gas turbine and aeroderivative turbine power generation facilities, from pre-development through commercial operation date (COD).
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, budgets, resource plans, risk registers, and change management processes.
- Oversee procurement, subcontracting, and vendor management, ensuring alignment with project scope, cost, and schedule objectives.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), OEMs, utilities, regulatory agencies, and permitting authorities to secure approvals and resolve issues.
- Manage project controls functions including cost forecasting, earned value management (EVM), progress reporting, and variance analysis.
- Drive safety-first culture on site; ensure strict adherence to Solaris safety standards, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.
- Comfortable with managing projects working parallel path activities from detailed design through start up.
- Coordinate workshop reviews on site to align engineering, logistics, and construction planning activities.
- Experience managing on site SIMOPS conflicts and identifying solutions for the team to work through.
- Facilitate effective communication and alignment among internal teams, joint-venture partners (if applicable), owners, and external stakeholders.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; implement contingency plans and recovery measures when required.
- Lead project meetings, steering committees, and progress reviews; prepare and present executive-level status reports and dashboards.
- Oversee commissioning, start-up, performance testing, and handover to operations, ensuring seamless transition and achievement of performance guarantees.
- Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement across the project portfolio.

Experience/Education- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field required; Master's or PMP certification preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive project management experience in power generation, industrial construction, or energy infrastructure projects.
- Direct experience managing gas turbine or aeroderivative turbine power plant projects (greenfield or brownfield) from inception through COD.
- Proven track record delivering utility-scale power projects on time and within budget in EPC or owner's engineer environments.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Gas turbine and combined-cycle power plant construction and commissioning processes.
- Project controls tools and methodologies (Primavera P6, MS Project, earned value management).
- Contract management (EPC, OEM supply, construction subcontracts).
- Regulatory and permitting processes for power generation facilities.
- Safety management systems and incident prevention in heavy industrial settings.
- Experience working in fast-growth, entrepreneurial energy or industrial platforms preferred.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status.
