Description
As NTH continues to grow, we are looking to hire a Project Director to help expand our client footprint. With offices in Northville, Detroit, East Lansing, Grand Rapids, and a lab and equipment office in Livonia, we are positioned to expand our services and client portfolio to align with the company's strategic plan.
How You Will Make An Impact
Lead the business development, client engagement, and strategic growth of Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and laboratory services, working closely with the Lab Manager and Materials Testing Department Manager to support technical execution, laboratory quality, project delivery, client satisfaction, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
• Develop and implement business development strategies to expand CMT and laboratory services across existing and new clients, markets, and project types.
• Identify, pursue, and secure opportunities with contractors, engineers, developers, municipalities, public agencies, and private-sector clients.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, understand client needs, and position CMT and laboratory services as a value-added solution during project planning and delivery.
• Prepare and support proposals, scopes, fee estimates, qualifications packages, and pursuit strategies for CMT, inspection, and laboratory testing opportunities.
• Coordinate with the Lab Manager and Materials Testing Department Manager to confirm staffing capacity, technical capabilities, laboratory accreditation requirements, and service delivery commitments.
• Support market visibility through networking, client meetings, teaming discussions, industry events, and strategic marketing initiatives.
• Develop annual revenue goals, backlog targets, and growth plans for CMT and laboratory services in coordination with the Division Director.
• Monitor client feedback, proposal outcomes, win rates, revenue, utilization, profitability, and market trends to guide business development priorities.
• Collaborate with technical managers to ensure project delivery, reporting, testing procedures, equipment needs, and quality systems support client commitments and growth objectives.
Requirements
What You Bring to The Team
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Technology, Environmental Science/Health, Natural Resources, or related degree, from a 4-year accredited college or university. Master's degree preferred.
• Professional registration a plus.
• 15+ years of experience of demonstrated leadership experience providing technical solutions to civil and/or environmental challenges and with relevant experience as a consultant, client advocate, and/or account manager within the industry.
• Experience with project planning, budgeting, delegation, and management to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Experience negotiating project scope and fees with clients.
• Experience advocating for clients and projects with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
• Experience leading and growing a team of diverse professionals.
• Ability to organize technical material into comprehensive reports and perform QA/QC reviews on work product.
• Project planning, invoicing, and collections, budgeting, task delegation and management to ensure project is completed according to work plans.
• Demonstrated ability to seek and establish new clients and build good business relations with both new and existing clients.
• Develop and maintain professional business relations with clients
• Assist in developing business strategies and action plans for creating growth opportunities.
• Conduct periodic site / client visits, project, and business development meetings.
• Accuracy, dependability, and strong organizational skills.
• Time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects at any given time, and have ability to work in a team environment.
• Must have strong written and oral communication skills, be able to work in a team environment as well as independently, demonstrate collaborative approach to problem-solving, and have ability to interact with clients to understand their needs.
• Must hold a valid driver's license and be willing to travel to and conduct field work at job sites/offices in Michigan.
• May be required to perform job duties in the field and office, during non-standard work hours, as necessary.
• Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
