About Your Role

The Project Controls & Schedule Specialist focuses on managing project schedules and costs using Earned Value Management (EVM) to ensure large capital projects stay on track and within budget. In this role, you will provide technical expertise to minimize risk and track project performance, analyze variances, and forecast outcomes. You will serve as a primary technical lead for reviewing contractor schedule submissions to ensure they are logically sound, executable, and meet project requirements.

What You'll Need to Get the Job Done

  • 8+ years of experience in project controls, scheduling, and cost management
  • Demonstrated experience with Earned Value Management on large capital projects
  • Expert proficiency in Primavera P6 required
  • Strong knowledge of cost control, forecasting, and scheduling methodologies (SV, CV, SPI, CPI)
  • Expertise in logic validation, including auditing for "front-loading," logic gaps, and artificial float usage in third-party schedule submissions.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to present technical data to diverse audiences.

What You'll Do

  • Develop & Maintain Master Schedules: Create and manage detailed Level 1-3 project schedules using Primavera P6, identifying relationships, logic, and milestones.
  • EVM Performance Reporting: Establish, track, and maintain Earned Value reporting by extracting PV, EV, and AC metrics from monthly contractor-provided cost-loaded schedules to generate comprehensive performance reports.
  • Schedule Reviews: Perform rigorous technical audits of contractor schedules (XER files) for accuracy, logic integrity (identifying open-ended tasks), and contract compliance. This includes validating the underlying data in cost-loaded submissions to ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Analyze & Report Performance: Monitor CPI/SPI trends and variances to provide early warning signals and data-driven insights to project leadership.
  • Risk & Delay Mitigation: Identify potential delays early, perform schedule impact studies for change orders, and conduct detailed delay analysis.
  • Strategic Alignment: Participate in project meetings to ensure construction schedules align with overarching project goals and contractual deliverables.
  • Progress Validation: Conduct site observations, where applicable, to verify that reported schedule updates accurately reflect physical progress in the field.
  • Maintain Documentation: Ensure all project controls documentation and baselines meet established standards and are properly archived.
