Project Overview:

Bechtel operates through five global business units that specialize in energy, infrastructure, mining & metals, manufacturing & technology, and nuclear, security and environmental. Today, our colleague's team with customers, partners, and suppliers on diverse projects in nearly 40 countries. The Infrastructure Global Business Unit (GBU) is executing site civil and marine scopes of work associated with our scopes of work on the Energy GBU LNG projects. The successful candidate will serve as the Project Controls Engineer on the Rio Grande LNG project. The work location is Brownsville, TX.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will work with the project team to support schedule development, maintenance, reporting, monitoring activities, cost estimating, analysis, and control activities. You will be instrumental in ensuring projects stay on track and on time. #LI-ML1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and maintains the schedule for a specific discipline area or specialty
  • Performs schedule development duties to include establishing the work breakdown structure (WBS), determining the work activity duration, establishing the proper workflow logic ties, and developing the required job expenditure
  • Performs schedule monitoring, including identifying critical activities and updating functions for specific applications, disciplines, or specialties
  • Determines critical-path activities for assigned discipline or specialty work activities supporting interdisciplinary requirements
  • Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule
  • Monitors and validates subcontractor schedules
  • Evaluates subcontractor schedules for required workarounds or potential schedule improvements
  • Supports cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, project setup, control, analysis, forecasting, and trend program coordination
  • Prepares and coordinates the implementation of cost reporting and ensures accuracy
  • Prepares specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures
  • Implements measurement systems for given processes, analyzes performance metric results, and identifies opportunities for improvements
  • Analyzes data to provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business or related field required
  • Minimum 8-10 years of relevant work experience


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, and construction (EPC) customarily acquired over time through specialized training or practical experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of planning, scheduling, and cost engineering functions
  • Demonstrated experience in Primavera 6
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to present complex cost analysis to management
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, problem solving, and enabling decision-making
  • Demonstrated good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for achieving solutions
