WSP's RPM team is one of the most established and exciting teams in Canada. The team consists of environmental technicians, project coordinators, project managers, technical experts, and qualified professionals. We have been providing contaminated site program management services to the worlds most technically focused companies for over 15 years. We consistently have backlog of 9 to 12 months and provide growth opportunities for our high performing team members. We specialize in health and safety, Phase I/II ESAs, risk assessment and remediation. Our team takes on the biggest Canadian projects from coast to coast to coast. The projects range in type, size and complexity, and the successful candidate will be able to utilize the team strengths to manage a large amount of field work efficiently and effectively.

WSP has a new opportunity for a Project Controller to join our Remediation Program Management team based in Edmonton or Calgary. The Project Controller will support the successful delivery of projects by providing oversight of project cost, schedule, forecasting, risk, and performance reporting. The Project Controller works closely with Project Managers, Project Accountants, and project teams to ensure projects remain on track, within budget, and aligned with business objectives.

Your Impact
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and schedules.
  • Monitor cost, schedule, and project performance against approved baselines.
  • Perform variance analysis and identify discrepancies between planned and actual performance.
  • Support project setup, planning, estimating, and resource forecasting activities.
  • Prepare and maintain project performance reports, dashboards, and status updates.
  • Assist with tracking of project KPIs.
  • Coordinate project review meetings and support project governance processes.
  • Monitor project risks, issues, and changes, ensuring appropriate escalation when required.
  • Review work-in-progress (WIP), accounts receivable, invoicing status, and project financial health.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Accountants to update forecasts and implement corrective actions.
  • Support budget re-baselining, change management processes, and project closeout activities.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational project controls procedures and financial controls.

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting/finance, business administration, or other related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in project controls, project finance, cost control, scheduling, or project management support. Preferably in the environmental consulting industry.
  • Experience supporting small to large projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project management/reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with Smartsheet.
