Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is seeking an experienced
Project Architect to join our growing team in
Pensacola, FL. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, self-motivated architect to lead and manage architectural projects in the Healthcare and K-12 industries, from concept through construction. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong design and technical skills, project leadership, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work in a collaborative team environment.
Essential functions and responsibilities include:- Lead and manage all phases of architectural projects, from programming and conceptual design through construction administration
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors
- Coordinate and integrate work across disciplines to ensure design intent and project goals are met
- Direct the development of construction documents in Revit
- Prepare and review project deliverables, ensuring quality control and compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Oversee and support junior architectural staff with guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise
- Conduct site visits, field measurements, and construction observation
- Respond to RFIs and submittals, review shop drawings during the construction phase
- Participate in permitting processes, consultant coordination, and preparation of project manuals/specifications
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program
- 8+ years of professional architectural experience with demonstrated project management responsibilities
- Strong working knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and standards
- Proficiency in Revit is required; experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
- Registered architect in Florida required
- OR Licensure in Florida is preferred; candidates who are eligible to obtain Florida licensure will be considered.
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
- Local to the Pensacola, FL area or willing to relocate
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for site visits as needed
